Milwaukee Concert

From the 6th row/center at The Marcus Amphitheater in Milwaukee, WI on Friday August 11, here's how it looked;
9:30pm (showtime) 90 degrees, very humid
Looking irritated, Jon emerged from backstage to the thunderous ovation of 20,000 devoted fans. Opening with Neil Young's "Keep On Rockin' In The free World", it took all of "Hey God", "Livin' On A Prayer", and "You Give Love A Bad Name" before he even smiled. Maybe the heat? Hard to tell. Though, he all but "challenged" the audience when he informed us (based on how "good" we were) WE would be responsible for how long they played. We got 2 hours and 35 minutes. (I guess that means we were o.k.?)
The sweltering summer night filled with the strains of; "Keep The Faith" / "I'd Die For You" / "Blaze Of Glory" / "Runaway" / "Damned" / Blood On Blood" / "Lay Your Hands On Me" / "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" / "Jumpin' Jack Flash" / "Popa Was A Rolling Stone" / "Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey"/ "Bad Medicine" / "Shout"/ "Wanted Dead Or Alive" / "These Days" / "With A Little Help From My Friends" / "Lie To Me" / "Always" / "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night"
All were performed with precision, but without nearly as much enthusiasm as on previous tours. Very little audience rap, very little use of all the stage, no jumping into the audience, and very little band interaction. Are they finally tiring of the grind? Or was it just too damn hot? For the first time in the 10 years I've seen them play live, it looked as though it may finally have turned into work. I hope not.
