I am an accountant, actually specialized in international tax. It was a lot of fun actually while the economy was going strong and every one did an international reorg. I used to work for one of the big four, then started for a client about a year ago. The client is gigantic, we have subs in almost every country, I am still doing international tax and like the work itself.

However, the hours are getting to me. 50 - 60 hours standard - is it worth it? I do make good money that's for sure, but I am also missing life.

Now don't laugh, I'd like to open a petstore. My own thing. Sure, I'd be working tons of hours as well, but at least I am making the rules. My idea of a petstore is quite different, it would be much of an exclusive store, handmade accessories, etc. I started on a feasibility study, but I have a bicillion ideas and have to price them all out - lots of work and quite scary actually. Makes you appreciate your cushy job again.

It certainly isn't something I am jumping into, I am looking at a 2 years if at all.
