I think drug addicts need help - serious help and there should be many programs in place that will keep them safe. As safe as possible.

I find it ridiculous that I could go to jail for smoking a joint, but being charged with domestic abuse, I most likely wouldn't see the inside of a jail ever.

Not long ago, there was this girl at a streetcorner asking me for money to get a cup of coffee. You know she wasn't going for the coffee. I gave her whatever I had in my pocket - as we walked away, my friend said 'you do realize that you just further supported her habit.' I disagree, though. I know what she is using the money for, but a heroin addict (which she most likely was) will do ANYTHING to get that money. She was barely 20 and incredibly pretty - if I can keep her from doing the ugly thing just once, I'll do it.

yep, but I think they've been really messed up already before they started - otherwise it wouldn't have come to this.

people who can handle drugs won't get to the point where it takes over their lifes, you know. Kind of like alcohol. Some people get too carried away with it and can't leave the bottle, others do it for recreational value only.
