I really like this film, it was scary without being gory. I thought it was better the second time though, because then you kind of know what to expect and I didn't close my eyes at the scary parts! :D

I saw that movie a couple of days ago. people told it was reaaly scary so i was looking oward to see it. Maybe because i was expecting too much of it, i didnīt find it that scary. The only parts i scared myself was when they showed the girl dead oin the closet at the beginning and then the guy in the chair. Their faces were.... :?
I think if i wans't told anything about the movie i would be more scared.

I thought the ending rocked! :D The TV scene, was the best one of the whole flim. I like how she flickered and didn't change to color from her black-and-white state! Very nice. :D A friend of mine couldn't sleep in a room with a TV for a week after that movie!

I was also disappointed by the "scare" factor of the movie. I wanted to be scared shitless, but it didn't give me the bit senssation of fright. I think the story's a bit weak and could've been worked on a bit -- But it's directed by Gore Verbinski! He rocks !! 8)

It may not have been visualy scary but it was just the whole atmosphere of the film, the snippets of the video that she keeps seeing and the scene with the horse is amazing. The end really freaked me out. Brilliant film, can't wait for the sequel.

Oh Lord, no, not a sequal. I would have liked this movie a lot more if it made more sense. Actually, it would have been better if it made any sense. I hated it (although it was quite scary). I honestly found it to be one of the most incoherent films I've ever seen. Nothing is explained! Things just happen because they do! Ok, so we solved the mystery of what's on the video...so why is the video killing people? Why are the photos all screwed up? Why is there a video of all this in the first place? Why does it take seven days for them to die? Who exactly calls you and lets you know...the girl?...she's dead. How does she come out of the TV?

Now if at the beginning of the movie they explained how a witch doctor cursed the tape or something, it would have been better, but I found it to be a really bad movie with much left to be wondered...the said wonderment is about important plot points.

So, yeah, anyway, it was bad (although, yes, the whole atmosphere was scary).

Okay.. I'll do my best to explain... It takes 7 days because Samara was alive in the well for 7 days. The video is images from her mind, the pictures as well, the girl is psychic or something like that. The parents couldn't have children and they went to some chinese doctors, the girl is cursed. Yes she phones them, from beyond the grave. She is pure evil. The pictures are destorted so that you know that you will die, you technically do not exist anymore. Samara wants her story to be heard, but most people just watch the tape and then they die without passing it on, the mother made a copy and showed it to someone else, therefore technically cursing someone else, but if that goes on then Samara's tale will be told. Everything you see in the video is something that was around Samara and that's what you see.
It isn't that incoherent, but you have to watch it a couple of times to see links in the movie. It is made very subtley and very creepy, because you have to think about it.

That was my exact thoughts after seeing it for the first time -- but after i watched it a few more times after that, it became a bit clearer...but, of course, it could've still been better.

That still doesn't explain why the people die at all, which was my big concern, nor does it explain how she comes out of the TV and all...maybe I just need to keep an exceptionally open mind with this one.

In the movie's defense, however, it did give me the chills as well as a nightmare the night I watched it. The movie itself was rather like a nightmare...just the atmosphere and all...it still give me chills thinking about the video. I think the thing that horrifies people is that we've all seen things like that of the video...you know when everything goes silent and you can't move and you just wake up screaming. Quite scary indeed.

I still haven't seen this movie. I've heard so much about it though. I may have to go rent some movies this weekend.

I rented this movie a little while ago. I had no desire to see it but people kept telling me, "Oh, it's so incredibly scary! It'll terrify you!" So, I rented it just to say, "Ah, no it's not and no it didn't..." Well, I was fine up until she came out of the T.V.... That was just a tad too freaky for me...

Has anyone seen the Japanese version of it? A friend of mine is really into Japanese movies and she saw it. She says it's way better than this version -- apparently, the Japanese version came out first.

People die because they don't tell her story, that is what she ultimately wants. The line in the movie is "before you die, you see the ring", the ring is the covering of the well that she was trapped in for 7 days. She can come out of the TV because she is psychic, what isn't told in the film that it isn't only TV's that she can come out of. When you've seen the video you are psychically connected to her, she only needs then something with a reflextion to have her come out. I think the other kids died when they saw her in a puddle. The bodies are so disfigured, becuase they when they die, their bodies look like hers did after 7 days being stuck in a well and fear of seeing her spirit. All that is really important is that Samara is truly evil and will not be stopped.
