Are 80's film's better than the film's of today film's like poltergeist halloween nightmare on elm street are much better than today's film's

On what level? It's really hard to say that one decade's films are better than another's. You can find really great films from all time periods and utter garbage to represent the same time period.

It seems obvious that special effects are better now... but you can't discount the effectiveness of something like the tornado picking up the house in the Wizard of Oz. Some might argue that plot gets lost in special effects in some films of recent years.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a film.

Although theres no doubt the special effects are better now, most of my fave films were made in the 80's. If anything now I think films concentrate more on the mindblowing special effects, than the story line and humour in the movie. Take Jaws for example, now if that was re-made again today im pretty sure i wouldnt like it as much as the original

I think some are yes. I don't think there's been a decent "horror" movie since the 80's. Classics like Nightmare, Friday the 13th...all those that I grew up watching!

Sorry, but no. I'm not saying 80s films are bad. I'm just saying they've gotten better.
