Has anybody heard of this scam?

You give love a bad name

Police took a report by phone October 28.

The woman who called explained she was a member of the “Jon Bon Jovi Rocks Our World” social media group.

The administrator of that group, the woman told the reporting officer, thought it would be a good idea if all the members of the group chipped in to make a cash contribution to the Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen in Red Bank, New Jersey.

The members then chipped in, using an online service to transfer their contributions to the administrator, who would then forward it to the Soul Kitchen, the report stated.

The woman told the officer that she became suspicious and checked, and the kitchen had never received the group member’s contribution.

Using the online forum, users questioned the woman who took the donations, and she, the officer was told, began banning those who asked from the group.

As questions continued the woman changed the group’s status to “secret” on the social media platform.

This was to keep anyone else from finding out about the fraud, the woman told the officer, and made it difficult for group members to contact each other.

The woman was filing a police report as part of the effort, the matter having been assigned an investigator with the Attorney General’s office.
