Maybe Jon has grouped together with the band and decided to come out with a united front now Richie has gone. It's doutbtful and I'll ignore any of the usual pre album hyperbole bullshit until I hear the finished product.
Yea, I agree with all of this. They (Jon and Hugh) are saying all the right things. Almost to the point where one would think them come here and read all of our BS posts.

Interesting how all this was mentioned in two short interviews.
- Jon's got 25 songs written
- They are in the "demo" process
- Jon went back to his old studio - (Hopefully for sound and production - Not just because it's around the corner)
- Jon made the "back to basics" comment
- Both Jon and Hugh made it a point to mention that Dave and Tico are both in the studio
- Another producer has been added

Everything above adds up to everything we've been complaining about for the past few years so either they are on the same page as us or read this very board. Either way, the final product is the final say....

but who and where is the guitar player?
the guitar player has the most crucial and important role in a rock band
you can't move forward without a great new guitar player
i don't like this at all

The interviewer didn't ask who was playing guitar in the studio and Hugh didn't volunteer the info.

Personally, I think the vocalist is the most important part of any act. I can listen to just about any style of music, but if I don't like the singer's voice or the lyrics to a song, I'm changing the station.

But it is. At least for me. It's got energy, optimism and is catchy. I know most of you don't like all the political/empowerment stuff Jon's come up with in the last couple of years, but everybody's entitled to his or her own opinion, right? Oh no, wait, it's JoviTalk

This. And I say that as the guitar player of a rock band. Guitar (sound) is important, but rhythm guitar can be played by almost anyone (even Bobby, Shanks, hell even by Jon), unless you're the Stones or AC/DC. Guitar solos are something different, but the last couple of albums have been lacking those anyway, or had simple ones that even I could play...

+1. Hugh's right. Bassists are always right. WWBTF is very r'n'r, what they now call "classic rock", very Springsteenesque too.

I love it when she says how much she & the fans hate WAN and she keeps repeating it during the interview!

When the interviewer asked if the new album was anything like WAN, because she (we) hated WAN, he asked her what she thought of the "Nashville influenced album" he couldn't remember the title of.

Am I the only one who picked up on that?

I took that response to mean this new album is LH part 2.

Maybe! I mean to me it sounds like he answered a question about a controversial album by bringing up another controversial album. I don't think they'd go country again but who knows.
