But if I just focus on the musical standpoint, then yes. His voice went through 2 stages. Failure to hit notes 2017-2018 and then failure to sing 2020-2021.

Any artist who loses their craft before their time is sad. Blaming Jon for overturning is like blaming Tom Brady for playing too many football games. It's what they are born to do. The combination of Hard Work, Natural Talent, & Luck will bring 1% of the population to the top and when they lose that, I feel bad for them in that regard.

I feel very comfortable with Jon's performance of Who Says. Sure it wasn't perfect but it showed me that he's capable of doing some type of run. I think when Jon initially filmed "Thank You, Goodnight", he really thought this was the end and now I think he's surprised himself.
Well said.

Anyone who has been through a Rehab surgery where recovery takes a long time will know that hopeless feeling where you think it's never going to get better and then the exhilaration when things start to improve and get better.

He's been through an ordeal. Hopefully there will be a last dance for him and the band.

I don't buy the "he went out there to make money knowing his vocals were damaged". 2017-2018 was passable. Not great but it's not like it was for 2020 onwards.

2020 onwards had, consertiavely if I had to guess, 50 shows over 4 years. Dude ain't making as much moeny with short tours. To act like he staged a 200 show tour knowing he couldn't sing is a wild take.

And to add onto this, in order to even put out an album, record companies require touring for promotion and a possible split % in profits.

This hasn't been the case for years. 360 deals are very rare these days, so the label doesn't make money from touring. And you don't need to tour to promote a release. We have the interent for that now. The percentage of people that go to see a band like Bon Jovi and actually buy a record is incredibly small. Without the ticket/CD bundle being an option now, Universal couldn't care less about tours.

I disagree. He would have been aware then that his vocals were in trouble. No it wasn't as bad as 2020. But he knew. Hell, we knew. We were talking about it on here daily 2017-2018.

Ain't making much money? Seriously? The band will still make at least a couple of million per show. Not bad for a days work! Even with 20 shows in a year, that's lot of money...

For Point A) I can't seriously take what this board says and use it as what the general public thinks though. Of course we noticed it but I didn't think his voice was "ripping off the fans" territory. The last 4 years, absolutely. I think he knew his voice was in trouble but if sales were strong and the press didn't tear him to shreds, I didnt have a problem with him going on the road.

For Point 2) Oh they made money yeah, I just think people are using the 2022 tour and compairing it to older worldwide tours and taking advantage of people. It wasn't the cash cow previous tours was with less multiple shows for city and more stretches of days off in between but the whole thing was what, a month? But I also don't think it should have happened and he should have hung it up before.

While 2022 was the the absolute end of his voice, it was pretty unlistenable from 2017 onwards. I remember the backlash about his voice from a lot of people that atteneded the last UK shows in 2019, not just from people here. He shouldn't have really been touring then in my opinion.

I think they did just enough to make some money for the corporation and to test Jon's voice out on it's first live run for a couple of years, which it ultimately failed and forced his had to get the operation. I think those reasons were the sole purpose of that tour.

Curious, is there a chance the vocal surgery will put him back to his 2008-2011 vocal resurgence? Even if the odds are slim to the none, there's still a chance his voice could far exceed expectations next tour, no?

Too soon to tell. I can't imagine he could ever get back to those levels but I'd deal on a level that allows him to do a decent 2 hour show, every second or third day.

I think Jon will have "wow' moments here and there but I also think he's going to be extremely cautious and give just enough to not be hated.

The live music from 2022 was unlistenable. He literally butchered every song regardless of the range or challenge the song brought. 2017-1018 wasn't like that. Sure there were cringe moments and he was using weird tricks to get through a lot of songs but These Days Sao Paulo 2017 for example was somewhat listenable. If you give me that Jon again with the improvement of keeping up with the songs, and not singing behind them, I'd be satisfied.
