"If I can't be great, I'm out. And I think that the documentary that we're about to put out addresses all of that. It's called Thank You, Goodnight for a reason, and we'll determine what happens there. But we do have this incredible four-part doc to celebrate the 40th. We have a brand-new record that I'm very excited about. And the hope is that I get to go out and celebrate it this time, because I'm so excited by it. But if I can't do it at a level to which I've grown accustomed, then there's no harm in that."

I do notice that talk of the box set seems to have gone very quiet! It's all about the documentary and new album. I did fear that the new album would take the place of the box set, at least for the time being...

When was the last time this was even mentioned?

Thanks Dominik, much appreciated.

I've been one of Jon's harshest critics, the bad joke that was BJ live since 2012 left such a sour taste in my mouth after so many years of my favorite band/frontman working their assess off to prove they were not just pretty faces and nostalgia. That travesty was undoing their legacy at such a fast pace that I had to distance myself for a while. I did not recognize the band but mostly that was not the Jon I knew and loved.

Knowing the why softens the blow, I feel so much for the guy, this has to be his worst nightmare as a performer.

Still doesn't change my feelings about the WAN fiasco (album, tour and death of the band) or the fact that he pretended nothing was wrong, kept touring and charging an obscene amount of money and in a way lying to the fans (to himself for sure) but it certainly puts things into perspective and I feel less inclined to only see the negatives now.

Might break the promise I made to myself to never ever see them again live without Richie. If Jon makes it to the other side I feel he deserves my loyalty.

Maybe.

I am thinking perhaps Bon Jovi 40th Backstage may contain tracks to listen to in full (paying) post 2012....Streaming on Spotify is another option.

Or perhaps the Box-Set is coming out but Bon Jovi want to focus on the Documentary and New Album first....

This is what I'm thinking. Album in June, Documentary in April, Backstage site updating as it goes and then fall/winter it's box set time.

Hope you're right!

Has anyone listened to the full interview. I haven't had the chance yet. I saw a post on another site mention that Jon said if he's able to tour then they are looking at Wembley in Summer 2025 but I haven't seen anyone else mention it so not sure how true it is? I feel like that's too specefic at this stage.

Surely they could only do Wembley if Richie is back.

Not sure. They've done Wembley before without Richie, but that was before everyone was so aware about Jon's vocal issues. If they are marketing it as a new album tour I think it would struggle, but at 40th anniversary show, or a farewell show (or of course a reunion show), would still sell very well...

The interviewer said that, not JBJ.

I respect Jon today more than ever for, finally, recognizing in public the problem.
Touring like if nothing was happening like the mini tour in 22 was not the way to follow.
