But it was so chopped up and context could have actually been him talking about somebody else. But Jon says direct "I needed an operation..Who was there for me? .music cares was there for me" Again, might be him giving an example of someone who needed help and music cares helped them. But that's what I remembered hearing in a short clip. I just watched it again.
If he did have surgery in the hopes of improving his voice, I'm sure it will be covered in the upcoming documentary.

In today's Pollstar event, Jon talked about the surgery and said that he had major reconstructive surgery. He talked about the reason he got it and how he is well on the road to recovery. He also mentioned that he wants to keep working on it before getting back on the road.

Can someone pinpoint the time he talks about it? Don't have time to watch 45 minutes of it. Thanks!

Here he talks about his health and his way to recovery. Not a mention of the surgery though.

It's good that he's finally talking about it openly.

About the documentary "It's called 'Thank You, Good Night' for a reason..."

If that doesn't signal this could be the end then nothing will...

In that title there are the words that Jon said a lot of times at the end (or almost at the end) of the concerts.

Not necessarily it’s a goodbye, but….

we’ll see.

I actually got a little choked up watching that.

40 years of a guy giving his all, ends up destroying himself and everyone is out there bashing him and his legacy.

Poor guy got attacked for using a playback because his voice was unattached and he still came out the next day to open a show and prove himself.

That was so liberating, and I'm glad he discussed it.

Yeah, that made me feel quite bad for slamming him at the time. To be fully fair. His performance of Who Says at the Musicares was better than I've heard in years. I'm interested to hear his studio voice. I'm glad he's talking about it at least.

Do we know when Christmas Isn't Christmas was recorded? Pretty sure he said it was a couple years old, but don't think there was a mention of recording age.

But he literally says in the interview when he's talking about his voice issues that they "Called it 'thank you, goodnight' for a reason" - what other reason is there?

He also said in this interview that he has been having this vocal issue for the last 10 years. I still believe he left it too long to have the vocal surgury. I get that it was a last resort and he probably wanted to try other things first, but 8 years was too long and probably did more damage in the long run.

he's says that he wants to get back to playing 2 and half hour shows but he needs to be realistic. He's almost 62 has vocal issues and is not Bruce Springsteen, I just don't see any reality where that can happen. Hope I'm wrong!
