By Rocket Ride, he went straight for that 80s sound. Tinnitus Sanctus didn't know what it was, mixing the Edguy and Avantasia sounds and not sure how far to lean into the classic rock sound. This album is when Tobi went full Bon Jovi. There is a video of them doing Dead or Rock at a festival and he is basically dressed as Jon.
The Joker album, which I don't remember the name of, was very mixed. It had some good stuff but weak songs too. And yeah, I agree with Robin Hood. I admired Tobi for never getting dragged into the loudness war, but that album was missing volume in the mix. Space Police was hit and miss too, but had top songs when it was good.
Avantasia up until The Scarecrow was top tier, getting that bombastic operatic metal right. Since then it has been very patchy and I don't like the last two albums at all.

Agree that early on Edguy had some good songs but it was with Mandrake where things started to reach another level.
Though not a favorite I do like Robin Hood personally, even if God Fallen Silent would have been a better choice to have on the album; with Nobody's Hero being the lead single. I love the Space Police album and would say it's my favorite Edguy album. Edguy is finished as far as I know, Tobi said they had run out of steam as a band. But I especially love Avantasia, so all is not lost for me.
For me nobody crafts hooks/melodies like Tobias can. I still can't get over the fact he relased ten albums in a ten year span between 2001 and 2011.
