However, I am a stickler for having a new album song as an opener for the tour that it represents, like Last Man Standing was for HAND and Happy Now was for some (but not enough of imo) of The Circle shows, so something off THINFS should definitely be the opener for this tour, be it the title track or New Years Day.
I think that it is confirmed that NYD will be the opener for this tour

To be honest I'm not excited about New Years Day being the new opener, imo it's to similar to That's What the Water Made Me. No once deny that the intro riff is very similar to Water and the way the verse kicks in very much reminds me of Water.

I can see God Bless This Mess being a cool opener. A dark stage with some sort of cool intro and then just Jons voice "I got some blood under my nails, I got some mud on my face" and the scene is light up wth the band kicking the song. It's the kind of all energetic song and pretty short, but could work the get the crowd going.

I generally go for the theatrical, so I would have gone for Lay Your Hands On Me or I Believe, but I didn't witness either of those in person on their respective debut tours where they were the openers, replete with pyrotechnics. I do agree Raise Your Hands is a great opener, but on the 2011 tour.. not the coked-out-sounding take as done during the Slippery tour (which I did witness.)

My vote is for Blood On Blood on the Circle Tour. It had the most heart. It came across as a call for coming together and celebrating the legacy of the band. I also loved the lighting design for it.

Tried voting for Raise your hands but I keep getting a blank page. Awesome to get the crowd going.

I also have a soft spot for OWN as it opened my first 3 shows I saw.

As for this tour, I really hope they don't open with NYD as it lacks energy and the big punch required to get the crowd going.

If I had to chose from the new songs, I guess THINFS (which I thought was a given as an opener) would be an obvious choice or god bless would also work, but not as much. Hadn't thought of that one until someone mentioned it earlier.

It's a tough question.
Lay Your Hands On Me, I Believe, One Wild Night, Bounce and Last Man Standing were all killer opener. I can't really tell which one is the best for me.

Raise Your Hands wasn't too bad but I liked it more towards the end like they did during the HAND tour with the triple Raise, Bad Medicine and Prayer or during the Bounce tour at some shows with Sleep, Born To Be My Baby and Raise.

Prayer as their biggest song belongs at the end of the set.
Lost Highway (the song) didn't do anything for me. And Water was a good choice for that specific tour but that's it.

Disagree. Keeping it at the end of the set, or any particular song for that matter, makes it predictable and boring. Keep it interesting. Opening with it as they did beginning back in 1995 was awesome because it got both that and Bad Name out of the way while starting off on an energetic note that all could come together on.
