I've never been a huge fan of Brendan O'Brien, and his style is rather 90s alternative. If BJ didn't use him back then, why would they now? Bob Rock is more along the band's lines, and they're obviously not going back to him either.

Also, John Shanks writes a lot of stuff. Brendan O'Brien doesn't.
