What her current employer has to say about her:

http://quarternote-music.com/instrum...ul-reed-smith/

Unlike Richie's, her name always appears in the "best guitarists ever" kind of lists -now it's always about female guitarists, so it's heavily biased and sexist.
http://mic.com/articles/20106/9-fema...-blow-you-away

http://passyworldofict.blogspot.fr/2...tar-great.html

Everywhere you turn, she's called "guitar great, guitar prodigy, guitar virtuoso, guitar goddess" and all the other laudatory synonyms you can think of. The same words have been used for Vai, Satch, Santana, EVH, etc. when they became famous. I'm not the one who started making comparisons, it's in the way of things, period. Every famous guitarist that tried to launch Ori's career and every magazine that ever wrote about her put her in "that elite category". Too bad for her not so many record buyers and concert goers share their POVs. I'm not putting her down, I'm just noticing that her records and shows don't sell much despite all the publicity made by gtr gods. I can -and did say- the same about Richie BTW, what "solo career"? (Yet I love Richie, warts and all. ). Just the hard cold truth, not my opinion.

NB & for the record: I have never used the words "good, better, bad, worse" because music is not a competition, it's not about "who's best?" but "who do you like?". As far as I'm concerned I don't give a damn about lists but I do compare styles and skills of course. Whoever says he doesn't is a liar. Let's talk about the recent BJ tour for example: why so many JTers commented about Matt O'Ree's playing and Bobby's if not to compare their different styles and say whether they like it or not?

PS : and calling her "a farm girl that lived her dream and became a pretty decent guitar player" is very insulting and degrading -even though she calls herself "the queen of fowl". And I would be the one who puts her down? someone's gotta be kidding!!!
Are you pretending that you are not replying to me despite the direct quotes?

"Farm girl" quote is her own words, and that is all I am going to reply to you, out of respect for the rest of the users, since I do believe we just agreed not to do this crap.

My whole post was just a rewrite/development of my previous comment + links to prove that what I call facts ARE facts. It was generic about her career and the way she is described and perceived.
My NB was nothing more than an NB. I wrote it here before and long before you ever posted on the board.
Only my aside (the PS) was directly in regards to your previous post.

What a hypocritical reply! You didn't quote her or mentioned you were paraphrasing her, you wrote, "she is... her...", and THAT is called an insult.

But keep on ranting if you must, trolling and bullying are JTers' favorite games!
Now I'm through with text explanations and bad faith, learn English!

Back to Ori's recent shows, Richie didn't show up last night but she had some other guests. Here's some music that might be a hint as to what the Richie & Ori album will sound like, who knows?

2 female singers gave it all and I hope they'll sing on the album (I'm pretty sure Brooklyn will since she's Ori's BFF + R & O are producing her band's next album for which they also wrote a couple of songs):

with Mindi Abair (another friend of hers. On the album too?):

I rest my case: Thank you very much for the proof positive that musically, instrumentally, and vocally, she's currently a long way from being strong enough to front a band!

Don't shoot or thank the messenger... who's just a messenger!

I've just found out what I was looking for: Ori's guest, Jimmy Z the harpist, did play on the R & O album, as I had guessed:

Look who Bill Churchville and I ran into next door in Studio B. My old pal Orianthi!! She's working on a record with Richie Sambora. Richie was a real gent. They asked me to play some harp on a few tunes. What a great day!

I should not have said that Orianthi does not have what it takes to front a band. I should have said is that Orianthi does not have what it takes to EITHER front or CO-front a band!

I don't know if I agree that it sidetracked. While it's about Richie/Orianthi's appearances, this discussion was about Orianthi's career. It's not up to the mods to go through posts and determine if they insulted someone, which is why we had kindly asked people to send the mods a message if they had a problem with how they were responded to. If people keep name calling to a minimum and have discussions that's what this place is for.

Thoughts?

I was under the assumption that ruïning discussions with pointless banter and irrelevant posts also meant a certain poster would be banned. Just read the posts, it's nothing but nonsense. How could anyone actually discuss anything like that?

Salaam Aleikum,

But which is the certain poster in this case? There are three people in this discussion, it's not as black and white as you're putting it and none of the people in this argument are speaking up as being offended by any of it.

My 2 cts in since I'm the one who talked a little about Ori's musical background and I did so because I thought (and still think) that her musical skills/background/career is what made Richie fall for her.* Now that they're writing and playing songs together, it seems to be relevant to know what kind of music she's into in order to know what to expect. For example, I don't think that Richie on his own would have played a Michael Jackson's song if it hadn't been Ori's favorite song.

In all honesty, if it's OK to speak about PhilX's career, it should be OK to speak about Ori's.
Now if you think this topic is not the right place to do so, tell me where is it? In an "Ori only" thread? Not relevant according to me since nobody here would be talking about her if she wasn't working with Richie. As to what I think about this particular thread, I expressed it in the past, just have a look at the previous pages.
I find it interesting that some of her guests at her 3 shows are musicians that also played on the R&O album but that's me. And me only maybe?

I'm not offended but I find it annoying and dishonest when people behave in a childish way and misquote me, misinterpret my posts and intentions, and when some think that "stating facts" is the same as "putting sb down". It makes it impossible to debate or even have a simple conversation and makes this place look like kindergarten where only bullies rule. Now if it is the way you want it to be, no problem, I couldn't care less.

* There's a YT video of the New Year's Eve charity gig where they first met: they're on opposite sides of the stage, not paying attention to each other, but when she starts playing a solo he suddenly startles and makes a face/wide opens his eyes as if struck by lightning, very much like Michael Corleone in Sicily when he first saw Appollonia (yes, I know it's fiction, it was in the script, but Pacino made it look really real, didn't he?). Ain't it cute?
