Default Bon Jovi in talks for summer perfomance in Israel

Quote:
The summer's round of big concerts may soon add the name Bon Jovi to its list of famous names. Official sources in production told Ynet that early discussions have begun to bring the rock band to Israel in September, most likely to take place in Park HaYarkon.

Wasn't Israel one of the places Jon said the band hadn't played before and he'd like to play there? I seem to remember reading that somewhere but I can't remember where or when. It would be nice to see that happen, if that's the case.

Yes, Jon has said that Israel and Greece are the two places he's never played before that he would like to.

However, one reason they've never played Israel is the volatile/dangerous situation there. I can't imagine why they would go there NOW when the situation is just as volatile as ever. Wouldn't staging a concert in Israel right now, gathering thousands of people in one place, just be asking for a suicide bomber to drop in? I mean no offense to anyone. I'm sure it's a wonderful country full of wonderful people. But is it really safe???

I don't remember ever hearing of a suicide bomber in Israel...

Rockets from Palestine that are blown to smithereens by their automatic defense system, yes.

I recall a couple of tours ago someone who was speaking on behalf of Palestine appealed to Jon not to play a concert in Israel in light of his "Who Says You Can't Go Home" song and considering that Palestine has been denied going "home" by Israel. And given the dire economic conditions in Greece, I don't see a concert there as a viable option (who would be able to afford the tickets?). It would be cool though for them to have a tour through countries that have seldom seen them or who have been waiting a long time for them to come.

Last fall, Lady Gaga did a 10-second video in which all she said was "Shalom" and that she was looking forward to performing in Tel Aviv. It was condemned in Arab social media as “disgusting, devilish...and insensitive" -- and in spite of her being scheduled to perform in Dubai three days earlier!

P.S. How much, if anything, would Bon Jovi's having a Jewish member have to do with it?
