For immediate Release:

For the past several weeks, Paper Rain has been advocating tirelessly for a postponement in the Stanley Park Concert by Jon Bon Jovi and the Kings of Suburbia because of a lack of ticket sales. The reality is that not enough tickets were sold to cover the cost of the artist and band’s fee, much less the other substantial costs involved.

Take your seats, boys and girls -- today's lesson will be Concert Promoting 101:
Quote:
Tour promoters (also known as concert promoters or talent buyers) are the individuals or companies responsible for organizing a...special event performance...The promoter and (the performer's) agent...negotiate (a) live performance contract...

(T)he promoter must have upfront cash or sponsorship financing to...assume all the financial risk...(C)ompensation...depends on how successful the promoter is at negotiating with vendors and creating sold-out shows...
The REAL "reality" is that it's THE PROMOTER who pays the "artist, band fees and other substantial costs" with money that THEY either own or borrow from sponsors or investors. Those expenses are supposed to be paid for LONG before the performance date. And you do NOT pay those expenses out of ticket sale revenues for what should be a brutally obvious reason: in the event of a cancellation, ticket sale money must be refunded!

The creative design was complete. The massive stage was in the city; the production team was busy at work; the light design had been finalized, the traffic management plan, safety plan and security plans were all in place; porta-potties had be secured and catering negotiated.
Male cattle droppings: you would have had to pay a deposit, at least, for all that preparatory work to be done. Are we to believe everyone worked for free and didn't mind waiting until the week before the show to be paid?

...We received unqualified support from the City and from the Park Board with regard to building permits which were scheduled to be issued on Monday at 1:00pm when we took possession of the site from the last event. Although the show components had been worked on for more than a year and were in place, the ticket sales for the concert continued to lag. Even in light of unexpectedly low sales, we were prepared to work the artist’s management to do everything possible to bring the concert to fruition.
Okay, NOW we're getting somewhere. Who in the Vancouver government and on the Stanley Park board hired you though you had no front money? Time for some investigators to start connecting some dots!

We were not allowed access to the artist for media interviews. We repeatedly requested access to collateral and marketing support materials but were advised that such materials did not exist...We were advised the artist would not be bringing merchandise for sale; and, VIP tickets that were reserved for the Jon Bon Jovi fan Club have never been paid for.
That only proves that BJ management was monitoring the situation and realized that as long as you couldn't pay anyone but Jon, there couldn't be a show. (I wouldn't be surprised if they set things up with Rogers Arena weeks earlier.) They knew the fecal matter was going to interface with the rotating air circulation device, and they just left you out there to twist in the wind!

We had urged the artist’s management to grant us a postponement in order to protect the ticket buyers, the City, the Park Board, and our suppliers...We regret...that effective immediately, as a result of the above, Paper Rain Performances is insolvent.
The only thing you were protecting was your filthy little Ponzi scheme, you effing scumbag crooks -- as a "result," you're "insolvent" in more ways than one. But I'm sure the authorities appreciate your effectively confessing to fraud and larceny, Paper Rain. Who wrote that press release, by the way, a spoiled six-year-old?
