I think it's pretty simple: the Burning Bridges record will consist of 8 songs, possible more, with We Don't Run being a newly written song, whereas the rest, like Sunday Morning, were initially written prior to that, but finished and (newly) recorded for this album.

That's why they're "new" - haven't been out before, have been freshly recorded, new release. That's what I think Shanks is trying to say, or what's in his head, and that doesn't contradict what Jon is saying to me.
