Yeah, but Nielsen Music (formerly known as Soundscan) formed in 1991. That total can't include possibly include the 21 million albums Bon Jovi sold before then. The total U.S. album sales is probably closer to 35 million.

As for the "sour note," I think that was struck when Mercury decided that without the member who as much to do with Bon Jovi's profitability as Jon did, only Jon's publishing rights were of any value to them. (They probably weren't crazy about Jon's attempt to run off to go play pro football owner, either.)

Where is now?

Down to 8 on iTunes but it's getting beat by 3 compilations which don't count, two pre-orders, one brand new one and then one that's recently been released but not this week.

Could do okay. Hope it goes to number two (won't go number 1 here) otherwise it'll be lowest since TLFR.

I just sang along Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning for the first time and man oh man I was constantly out of breath. Does that mean that mean that Jon is a better singer than I am?

So, he's going either to Sony or Warner, it seems.

I'll take that bet, too -- especially since one of the two other places has Springsteen.

Bruce wasn't asked for publishing rights when he re-enlisted with Sony, but that's because Sony feels they can make more than enough money off Bruce without them. Without Richie, Jon no longer has that kind of leverage. Ironically, Bon Jovi was probably one of the last commercial rock bands that didn't have to give publishing when they were signed -- back then, it was required only from commercial and Top 40 acts.

Not necessarily. Or do you think Jon will be able to sing We Don't Run at the pace he does on the album? I think in the studio he does one line at a time nowadays. He doesn't sing the song as a whole like he may have done at some point in the past.

I really think you're overestimating how much commercial impact Richie has within Bon Jovi.

I agree with you. I don't think Richie had squat to do with Jon not wanting to re-sign with UMG/Island. I think they wanted to start sharing in that cash cow called touring and Jon said, "that's okay...see ya" lol!!

Is there such a thing as the official UK album chart on the radio anymore?
