The more I think about it, this is more of a transition album. A way to slowly break in a new Bon Jovi without Richie. Keep it simple. No pics or liner notes. To release a full fledged album without him might turn fans off so this is a way of weaning him out slowly. Smart strategy if I'm right.

Makes sense....... just look at the reactions to pictures without RS. Some people were off the tracks. Some would be angry IF he came back so wean the fan base to the way it seems to be. Plus, something "new" for the mini tour is a bonus. Still needs to be strong, and if it is - the new BJ rolls on.

What part of Rdkopper's post are you guys referring to that Jon "already" said?

This is more of a transition album?

A way to slowly break in a new Bon Jovi without Richie?

Or are you just referring to the part about the brown paper bag, no promo, no interviews, etc.? I heard that part in the Runaway Q&A clips, but I hadn't heard any of the other stuff. I haven't had a chance to listen to the cbs interview though. Did he say something about it being a transition album to phase Richie out during that interview?

No he didn't say anything about phasing Richie out. This is all fan talk.

Correct. Just my theory.

If Jon released his BIG Bon Jovi album without Richie, fans will react... And lets face it, it will be weird seeing just the three guys in photos... or liners notes without Richie's stamp on them. On the flip side, it's not fair to Dave and Tico if the album was called the JBJ Solo project either... So the album before the album is a strategic way of slowly adjusting the fans to accept a world without Richie. By Jon's reaction, it seems like the record company is asking him to do this and it's not his choice. Maybe this is how they've done it with other bands too.

Again, just my conspiracy theory but based on the information I've heard, it seems logical.

Heck, these two Bon Jovi songs are the best I've heard in a while so I'll accept it.

Okay, I just knew I hadn't heard Jon say anything at all about Richie - phasing him out or otherwise - and wondered if I'd missed that. Thanks!

imo its a weird theory...jon intentionaly releases a weak album with no promo, nth to ease richies departure?? it makes no sense to me...a strong record would help the band move forward...
i realise even a succesful band like bj has obligations towards their label but i think its of bad taste from their side to push a guy like jon, who is prolific to release sth he doesnt consider good...jon was always proud for every single record they have released upon the time it was released. with time you realise some of your work was stronger than other but still never made such a big compromise before...so maybe jon fulfills an obligation with this way and goes with another label, otherwise its too strange.

ps.the hot topic of the daY happens in richies twitter though...
