It really shows how forgiving we've become when it comes to Jon's vocals - got texted by family members and old friends from my studying days this morning who had heard the song, all going "what the **** happened to his voice, it's horrendous!"
And I gotta agree. We're used to it, but if I heard it randomly from some artist on the radio, my reaction would be the same. As a matter of fact, I can't think of having listened to these kind of vocals consciously on some random radio station.

Default Christmas Isn't Christmas

Just listened to it!

It’s quite better than I expected it to be, in all senses.

90s or 00s Jon (and Richie) would have made this a gem, but it is what it is.

Not bad for a Christmas song, reminds me please come home for christmas. I appreciate the attempt to do something different with the voice and not apply too many effects, but all the problems can be clearly heard.

As soon as it started yesterday, my Mrs looked at me as if to say, he sounds shit. In the end, she quite liked the song. I think the first two lines, he sounds dreadful. It's a bit weird.

Yeah agree. Its not a bad song, its Please come home for Xmas pt 2, but the vocals are nasally and thin.
All the way through the song im thinking Id love to hear 80s/90s Jon sing this.

Such a shame.

Cute song. Jon sounds better than I’d expect him to do. I wonder if it’s just the tech behind the song pushing his voice or he is back on track. Time will tell.

Nice melody, easy-going christmas song, pretty smooth, would be a good listen in every christmas-playlist if somebody else was singing.
It's frightening how low the standards have become around here. There is no rasp in his voice, his voice is just fcuked up. If I was as bad in my job as he is with singing, nobody would ever pay me anything.

The slight rasp is in the 'But I can't wait' line. That's the only slight rasp I hear.

Time will tell?

Right from the first two sentences it's painfully obvious how much doctoring was done to make it sound remotely listenable and yet he's still slurring his words, struggles to pronounce certain words and has sentences put together from 5 different takes just to make sure one or two words sound right.

The song is alright but suffers immensely from Jon not willing to take some risk and put some edge to the music all while failing to keep up with everything that's going on in this song.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
