Becaue that implies all 2 million people want the same sound out of them. Some ask why they can't sound like Slippery, some younger fans love the Bounec sound, some legit liked the country angle. Point is they're never ever going to put out a song the fanbae agrees on.

I have a job I love, the best girl as my wife, and a joyous life. Awesome.

That is the song. It's pretty straightforward.

True, but whoever I've played Legendary I got sarcastic yeah it's great, good for you, "haha" comment. It's really not good. It's well intentioned though, as are many of Jovi's singles in last 20 years, and I'm not saying it can't be (or become) important or emotional for many of us. Hell, BWC grew a bit on me just because of Milan show in 2013.

But then, whoever I played Living Proof snippet, and there were rock fans, trap fans and really non-Jovi fans, they said it's kind of cool, very catchy, good stuff.

I mean, yeah, my representative group is like 5 people so yeah, non-relevant in the end. But there are good songs on albums, and first single for few albums now in a row was not objectively in top best or favourite songs by many fans/customers that will get exposed to their music.

I thought it was pretty clear, at least to the fanbase. "Legendary" is the whole story of the band. The relationship of the song is among the members that made the band and, of course the chorus brings on Dorothea hahaha, but "the brown-eyed girl" can be seen as the wife of the other guys too.

Yeah I hear that. It's very middle of the road, general audience. But they're a nostalgic legacy act that hasn't had a "cool" single in many many many a year. It's an uphill battle to promote a Bon Jovi song to a market that they left behind so long ago.

Does it make more sense to put out a song aimed at the audience that already expects that sound or spend more money with a dying industry and attract back the rock fans. Like, I get it. I don't like it but I get it.

I respect your opinion of course, it's just that I don't personally get it. Again, perhaps it's difference between North America and Europe.

But here, random metal and hard rock facebook and instagram sites still link every possible news regarding Bon Jovi, no matter that they aren't hard'n'heavy even in PR for 20+ or more years.

And rock and metal music in Europe is having a revival with millenials and gen-Z kids, as well as having traditionally large fanbases, stadium fanbases even for acts that would be has been in other markets. Let's not even get into South America market that worships bands like Jovi.

I don't know enough of North America's preferences regarding music these days and what's popular, except obvious stuff. I can trust you in that sense. But perhaps this is again time for Jovi to concentrate on worldwide audience, instead of purely US (NA). Cause I don't really see resurgence of band there, except nostalgic feel of has-been fans and audience that knows some stuff, new or old.

In Europe, it's different. Jovi is like a peer rival of Guns'n'Roses and hard rock equivalent of legendary band. No matter the "sellout" stamp, whatever, there are always 40-60 thousand people anywhere willing to fill a stadium.

My argument is don't take this for granted, throw them a bone. HAND was a bone in that direction, for example. Hey God was a bone to grunge, hard'n'heavy fans also. We need that bone after 20 years in singles choices again

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but I think the "don't pick up things you can't lift" is a little nod to his hernia in 2020. Made me chuckle when I first heard that haha.

I absolutely agree the rock market in Europe is crazy different than North America but, again, that's not the region they are focusing on. It's all well and good blogs and social media are still talking about the band but it also costs money to market a single to specific demographics.

I don't think you're wrong that they have supporters and fans in Europe but fans of what era? What's your example of a recent song of the band doing well over there, I genuinely don't know. Will they go as crazy over new material from the band after such a large gap of interest? Of course they can fill a stadium on the backs of the hits, no one is questioning whether or not there's a market for the band live.

I completely agree they should be targeting other markets if things are going to be meh in North America though, I just don't see them investing money into getting back into the rock market.

On the country note, I appreciate this isn't going to happen but now would be as good a time as any to explore that again if Jon wants to. Country is as popular as it's been for God knows how long, especially in the UK.
