Have you heard about Van Halen?

The more I listen to the song the more it musically and lyrically reminds me of Just Older. It is this decade's "I'm happy in the skin I'm in" song

I am really starting to like the song. Very cute chorus. It took me a little while to see the beauty of this one.

Is it me, or does that article make no sense. It says that it's their first top 10 in this chart for over 10 years and then says that Do What You Can got to number 5 in the same chart 4 years ago!?

It just says in years? Or I'm not seeing it.

Also, found this:

https://www.officialcharts.com/chart...s-sales-chart/

Here Legendary is at No. 27 (up from 91 last week). It's for UK, but I don't know relevancy of this chart.

EDIT: Also here at No. 23 (up from 87)

Hmm I'm 99% sure that the first time I read the article the title said "first in 10 years" and it's now been changed.

No one buys singles anymore, everyone streams them, so neither are really very relevant

How do you even buy a single these days? I don't think Legendary was released either as vinyl or CD. People buy digital, with all the streaming available?

Nobody can force people to stream, but I guess for a song to have a possibility for a minor hit it needs to get to regular radio rotation. Isn't that the job of record company, or is their role nowadays diminished in that sense?

Some people still use iTunes and Amazon to buy music, but it's dwindling numbers for sure.

Label will normally have a plugger that they send to radio stations etc. Sometimes the bands hire them directly (depends on the deal with the label). But getting a band like Bon Jovi on mainstream radio is no easy task in 2024.

A new single on a regular radio station it's also important for letting know the new single to some people that also likes hear radios while they drive or people that are in shopping centers, some shops, and others places where they often have the radio on.
