He said many times things such as "it's a rock record" "this record rocks" "this is a riff-heavy record" among other things, so he's as guilty of their "returning to the roots" marketing for every album as anyone.

If I remember correctly they say:
Crush - Big positive Rock N Roll record. Jon said that it's more similar to SWW than TDays.
Bounce - Hard rock record inspired 9/11
HAND - new, modern rock record inspired by his life. Jon was excited what people say about that band new direction.
LH - first say that this will be Country record. After few monts he say that this will be only inspired by Naschville, not typical country.
TCircle - Back to rock after LH.
WAN - rock record with a lot of guitars but where it's important it's almost unlugged.

Jon says about every BJ record - Rock record? Yes (not only about LH).
Back to roots? No. I never heard something like this.

I think that there's no problem that Jon says rock record. There is problem that people think that hard rock albums like Fahrenheit or SWW (almost Heavy) are only rock definition.

Back to roots? This could be interesting.

I think there's a big difference in saying "rock" and "back to roots." If Jon went "back to his roots" it would be.... different.

No, you may be right. Back to the roots has been a press thing, big rock album has been a band thing.

Agreed! I also think that The Circle was more rock-oriented than LH so I don't think it is always a clear-cut lie. I think we have to wait and see!

IF there's any truth to this statement (which I currently rather doubt) I'm not excited about "back to the roots". Cause for me that would be Jon emulating some sort of SSJ & Asbury Jukes / Springsteen & E-Street Band sound (considering the fact that his Powerstation demos all sounded a bit like this kind of music and that he even shoved a KOS show down the fan's throats last tour) and I really don't want to hear that from him!

Timings sound right, but it doesnt take a genius to come up with a feasible time frame for recording and release.

It also wouldnt shock me if they pressed on with Phil X for the next album. I'd be bitterly disappointed as I really haven't warmed to him in any way.

Jon can't do rock or ballads vocally anymore. On the press rounds he even said WAN was written so the songs can be played live with more ease than earlier material. Thus, i'd be surprised if they go after anything in the same vein as SWW - TD material.

The smartest (but perhaps least welcome) thing he could do is try and rip off SSJ/The ESB/KOS and a try to create a bigger sound that takes the pressure and focus off his vocals.

However it is fun to read about what we think this new album will sound like. There are a lot of factors going on here and I think everyone did a good job picking them all out.

If Richie doesn't come back for this one and considering Jon's vocal state, a back to roots album is a SSJ style album imo. That is 16 year old John Bongiovi when he was with ACE.

The only time Jon was like an Asbury Juke or an E-Street member was before his time with Bon Jovi.... When he did ACE.... The Wild Ones and The Rest still have that different sound close to Bon Jovi rather than a big horn type sound based on the few demos I've heard.

I actually never got why Jon and even his brother Matt put Jon into that category. I think Jon pretends he's more of that style but he's just not that type of artist. In the 90's, Jon did "I Thank You" and "634-5798" which just sound passionless in my opinion. However, that might be our new Bon Jovi album.

But in all honesty, I'd rather get that then some overproduced forced piece of garbage that Jon can't handle anymore. Just some well written music in Jon's comfort vocal level that I could enjoy at a back-yard bbq. Even if there is a 5 minute horn solo.

Well, if we're going to post the BS links, here's another one. It's got "drama" in the title of the website.
