I think the band really needs to look at the last era and ask themselves if they really wanna continue in that awful direction. But that assumes that the band has a clue what the fans really think, which I doubt they do.

That's like saying, why secure a million dollars when there is 10 million someplace else to secure.
Don't forget, Bon Jovi are World Wide. They might have to cover the globe to equal what Taylor could do in a few countries but the costs remain the same when it come to Internet Distribution via iTunes. The physical distribution costs are a little more globally but pressing a CD is pretty much the same too.
Bon Jovi are still contenders. They might not be pulling in top numbers like a Katy Perry or a Taylor Swift but they are not on the bottom of the list either. If they sell 1M copies at an average of 10 dollars each, that's 10 Million dollars. IMO, that's worth securing. Not to mention individual song sales from iTunes and other outlets. When they released BWC, it was the top selling single on iTunes for a few days. That's money and worth securing.
Their marketing strategy is different. They go after the die-hards for the quick hit. Longevity is not the strategy. They have the first single and the album release and that's pretty much the bulk of it. The remaining 11 tracks make some money but it's limited.
