I like it. It has attitude and makes a statement. I've always liked long song titles and such though. I'd take "Staring at Your Window with a Suitcase in My Hand" over "Amen" as a song title any day.... just taking two completely random examples.

It really doesn't matter how much talk, speculation, guessing, who's playing guitar, which studio it's being recorded in, where he's getting his influences from... at the end of the day Jon needs to deliver a believable passionate vocal. The singer needs to articulate the song and that's what it really all comes down to. That is who and what Jon was... Having clear, dynamic vocal ranges is what made everything from 83' to '95' brilliant. Don't get me wrong all those little things add to it but at the end of the day, it's Jon's vocals that will make or break the album... That's why Demos from the 80's are more enjoyable then Studio albums from today.

The Blaze Of Glory album is the most overproduced album in the collection and that album is brilliant because Jon sang his ball off... Jon's Bang A Drum vocals are brilliant on that album and his vocals on the same song by Chris Deluxe are unlistenable / unenjoyable. Hitting clear high notes is what makes a song great.

When I listen to songs like Amen, I literally vision Jon standing in a studio like he just rolled out of bed, having no facial expression what so ever, just going through the motion of laying down one take. If that song was sung right, it could be amazing. A 1988 - 1994 Jon would make that song a Masterpiece.

This is why I'm all for studio trickery and really don't care if he could pull them off live. I just want a great album and that's the key. Everything could be perfect but if Jon lays down lazy vocals by masked production, it's all over...

The thing is that today's Jon doesn't have any range left to peform songs like he did in 83-95.
I was just watching some live performances of some artists from my country and they sounded so bad, so off key compared to the studio versions of the songs in which they sound perfect. This really made me wonder if Jon does really utilises 100% of tehnology to make himself sound the way he does on the studio version of the songs. These singers that I've watched have nothing to do with music, they are almost tone death, unmusical or whatever it's called in english, they can't even sing crappy poppy songs which require no freaking rage whatsoever.

Anyway, the final "Amen"'s unfortunately are the best that Jon can do, you can clearly see on live versions how much he's struggling to reach and hold those notes.

Are you serious? Is that all you want to get? Is that all that music or Bon Jovi means to you? Is this the only way to satisfy "World’s Most Knowledgeable Bon Jovi Fan"? Really?

For me personally, Jons songs and seeing the band perform them means so much more to me. Lord, I wouldn't exist anymore without them and I always found hope and strength in those songs.

I don't care at all that Jons vocal range isn't anymore what it used to be. Jesus, he's 54 years old! Still he's a fantastic song writer and I'll enjoy his songs as long as I'll find something in them that touches me, soothes me, inspires me, solaces me, pushes me... As long as they stay authentic and release something that I can enjoy, I'll be thankful. And we all know that there won't be 10 more albums to come and nothing will ever take away what they've released in the last 30 years. And I don't care how AllMusic or the charts will rate the new album...

You may not forget: Neither Jon nor the band owes us anything! Take what you get, enjoy it or not, love it or hate it, say what you think about it, stay a fan or lay it to rest. Do whatever you have to do but please stop overestimating yourself.

Probably I shouldn't have posted this and should stop reading what's posted. No need to attack me now for what I've just written, this is my last post. Just couldn't resist...

Goodbye, I wish you all the best.

Go back to your Backstage Fan Club...

"I'll enjoy his songs as long as I'll find something in them that touches me, soothes me, inspires me, solaces me, pushes me"... In order for that to happen, Jon has to be able to deliver so get off your soap box and get back to reality!

So you like They Perch On Their Stilts Pointing And Daring Me To Break Custom better than Runaway?

Well, it does sound like an interesting song title, but since I haven't heard it, I can't say I like it better than the song Runaway.

When it comes to the album, I want quality lyrics AND a quality vocal. I'll be happy with that.

I'd wager he's been sent over here by Backstage to see what's going on and stir up the pot...

The band have released absolutely NOTHING inspiring for years. What makes anyone think that will change now.
It will be another politically motivated album, which sort of makes sense seeing as it's not really appropriate for 50-somethings to write songs about sex etc.
However, they aren't good political songs, and the best move would be just to call it quits.
