I am torn with the upcoming release of THINFS. For the past 4 releases I have listened to previews/snippets/leaks before the albums were released. Part of me really wants to not do that this time around... But another part of wants to and I know that I will not be able to resist!

I see people in the album thread already stating that they're not going to listen to anything but the single. I am gonna say I am going to do that as well, but I know I will probably give in (how's that for self confidence!).

So my question is, will you be listening to the snippets and previews before the album release? And secondly, what have you done with the past few releases and have you regretted it?

For me, I haven't regretted listening to the snippets in advance. But I really want to experience the album old school, without any samples. I want to get it on release day and listen to it by myself from start to finish for the first time.

I'll listen to anything and everything, it's part of the fun and doesn't ruin my opinion of the full songs. It's not like my opinions of songs off the last few albums are set by the snippets all these years later.

Should I set up a poll to see if people want to see the lyrics as soon as I butcher... er, figure them out or if I should perhaps post them on a "spoiler" thread of some kind to keep them hidden?

D-Day minus 8 for the single and still no leak? Where have all the hackers gone?!
I guess European radio stations will play the single before the USA since we live in your future. For example, Virgin radio in Italy is to play it next Friday.

If you put "lyrics as I hear them" in the thread title I guess that the great majority of JTers and lurkers will understand that the thread is NOT about the official lyrics as Jon & co. wrote them. BTW, if they're not accurate they can't be called "spoiler".

For the first time ever I want to avoid everyones opinions of the songs somehow and read the lyrics first before listening to song

I don't need to hold off because I'm well aware of the snippet pitfalls and I'm strong enough for it not to render any premature opinions...
