During my first listen, I heard the talkbox come in and I was thinking ... wouldn't it be cool if after this short talkbox solo, Richie would dive into a real solo with a lead guitar that cuts through the mix and takes the song to the next level. Unfortunately, that didn't come and so... the solo is really the weak point of the song. But, nevertheless: RS vs BJ in terms of released songs in 2024: Sambo wins.
I agree with everything said here.

The strange thing is, this isn't a million miles away from what Bon Jovi are doing these days. Richie just does it better and with more conviction. With a few little tweaks this could easily be a 2024 Bon Jovi song. If this was the first single from Forever, I'd be so into it! I just listened to this and Legendary back to back and Legendary is so very Meh in comparison (to me). The complete lack of energy in Legendary is very obvious - it sounds like a band phoning it in.

I really like it. I get the issues with production and vocal effects but the songs itself is upbeat and catchy as hell. I don't get the problems with the chorus, I think it's a really strong chrous. I agree that the talkbox solo is messy - Richie was always great at very melodic solos and this isn't one of them. Overall it's got me excited for more music from him, which is the exact opposite of what Legendary did, so I'm all for it. It's fresh, new and different sounding from Richie, where as the Jovi song was just retreading the same old ground we've heard time and time again..

I just hope that after the 4 songs we get details of a full album!?

It definitely seems that he is doing this without a label this time. Which is this day and age isn't an issue.

I notice that there has been no posts about it on his Facebook page so I presume that this means he has lost access. Hopefully his team can sort this, but it should have been sorted in advance of the release. A big part of his fan base will be Facebook users.
I Agree with you, however, I believe the solo mix went down on the gain levels. The vocals has reverb, chorus and female background vocals... For some reason dislikes and comments are unavailable. Bon Jovi did the same before... Ego battle?

It's 4:15 but has a 30 second fade out. Wild production choice.

Hearing it in full, it's fine. It's catchy but I'd rather listen to Legendary. I'm sure one of the next 3 song will stomp all over one of the songs on Forever too.

I remember the snippet of 'songs that wrote my life' from Norman's rare guitars video a while back, and I can already tell I'm gonna really like that one even if the production is shit. I'm looking forward to all the songs but that's the one that has me really excited...

Same. I worry none of these will make the album, All That Glitters felt like such a strong choice for a first single.

Looking these up on Youtube, the snippets have all been preserved by Rolo.

Thank you Rolo!

What makes you think there is still going to be an album? Seems to me he might just be releasing individual songs.

If he's doing 4 and then stopping, that feels weird since he has so many recorded and to only put out 4? You may be right though, who knows. Really hoping we get Pain in full.

Listened to it in the car yesterday...4 or 5 times right in a row.
I really like it. I don't know if it's going to be a song to be remembered in 5 years on. But for now it's a nice new release.
Like many around here already pointed out, the filters and effects on his vocals aren't necessary at all and his guitar tone on the solo sounds very thin.
But the song has a great flow, is rocking forward and man, nobody has talked about the drums yet? Those drums are masterclass, all those fills and paradiddles give me some Scorpions-vibes. It's a nice 2024-rocksong.
