In hindsight I wonder now how it really was behind the scenes when he broke his shoulder during the hand tour and contiued the tour while drinking and having to take a lot of pain killers.
I would assume Richie maybe already could have felt that this could be an opportunity for Shanks to reduce his influence on the band.
