By the way, the first single (that cover we heard in a preview some days ago, can't remember the title) had some lead vocals from Richie. So I'm confident that we won't be disappointed!
What cover ? What preview a couple of days ago ? Am I missing something?

From the article:

"...Sambora And Orianthi share the spotlight on the still un-titled album.

'There are songs where I'm just singing and he's backing me up, and songs where we're singing together,' Orianthi adds. 'It really takes you on a journey, and there's a great blend to our voices.' "

My guess is she was dispelling the notion that it's going to be a Richie Sambora solo album and she's just along for the ride. I'm taking it to mean that, in addition to Richie leads, there will be songs where she sings lead (with him singing back up), as well as some more traditional duet songs.

Perhaps I'm being optimistic. It could mean exactly what she said and Richie's only providing guitar with backing vocals or singing duets.

Richie's ego has let albums like that happen for 30 years. Well, other than sharing the lead in a duet. That might be considered a step up!

I noticed that something important was missing from the article Fortunately, I saw Orianthi tweeting this:

That's what they're telling for 3 years now...

The whole thing just strikes me as Richie paying for his girlfriend to release an album, with the odd song of Richie in there to make it more popular. IMO it just seems like she is rinsing him while he forks out for all this studio time and mucking around. Once the album is done and predictably no-one is really bothered about it and it doesn't sell, then it will all go south. And then, finally, we may get a decent Richie solo record. Or a Bon Jovi with Richie back.

I just want this Orianthi phase to finish and Richie to either move on with a proper solo career, or find his place back in the band.

I await to be surprised by the album, but everything about it so far puts it light years behind Aftermath

To me that's a bit too cynical. If that were the case the album would have been done 3 years ago. I really think they're working on this equally and together and it will be Bounce 2.0. Ten genres shoved into an album with no cohesiveness. I want this to be good, so badly. But I want it to sound like an album.

With Bob there at least I know it's gonna be sonically better sounding than aftermath. I just hope the songs are good. My expectations may be low but I do have hope for this, I want Richie to succeed.

Here's hoping. Richie has had a lot of leeches hanging onto him for the last few years for their own ends and I just hope this project his plenty of him on it rather than just financing an album to keep his girlfriend sweet.
