Richie may have looked well and happy in the Brazil footage I haven't looked at any of that in fact I would say in the YouTubes I have seen Richie has looked happy. But I don't know any 57 year old men that sound and act like this:
And this wasn't even the worse one I have seen.

This whole, Richie is wasted thing is really getting on my nerves. While there's no doubt he's had issues with this over the last few years, I see no evidence of this in the recent footage and he seems a lot more together, in that sense.

I think people expect him to look and act like he did 15 years ago. The guy is 57 for heaven's sake, I think people forget that sometimes...

I agree with the blending of the voices though....
Now I am not saying that Richie is having issues again or anything, in fact, I think looks pretty good, and yes sounds good. Now, aren't u the one and others here complain about Jon not sounding well? U know, no voice, no passion, blah blah, but if someone mentions here that Jon is now 54 years old and does not need to sound or act like he did 15 years ago, for some hear it is a moral sin for Jon to not change because of age? and Richie now 57, it is ok for him to not have the same voice or sound the same because he is 57? Really?

Speaking of being underrehearsed, Richie comes across like an unprepared Donald Trump in that interview.

Lol!!! Richie's like that weird uncle everyone has. The one that tries really hard to be cool, hip, look younger, wears the skinny jeans and opened flashy shirts and is always trying really hard to make everyone laugh by telling all his repertoire of 'dad jokes' that must have been compiled while rewatching episodes of Miami vice and MacGyver. And at the family reunions everybody's cringing but no one has the heart to tell him...

This is the best description of Richie I have ever seen.

Also, that video is from February.

Yeah, 57 or not, I wouldn't say that he is well/ok, at least not in that video. Compare his 2014-2016 "look" to just 2012 (no 5 years ago), and you almost have two different persons. The one is bloated/fat and wasted, the other youthful and energetic.

Ok, to be fair, Jon also went from the ever youthful to the gray Bill Clinton impersonation in a very short amount of time, but nevertheless...

People on the board may have said that about Jon, but I never have. No point in attacking me for what others have been saying!! In fact in my last post I was praising Jon. I do see both sides equally and judge on what I see, unlike some here...

Thumbs down

I was clearly talking about the Brazil footage, which you haven't even seen. Instead you bring up a video from months ago to prove your point. Bravo...

I haven't watched all the footage from Brazil yet, but a friend sent me a video of The Answer and I LOVE it!

From watching his face, you can see how hard he's concentrating on the guitar, especially in the solo; and he's playing it on the 12-string again, which wasn't true of some of the others I watched. You can see the struggle to reach the high notes. It's not studio quality by any stretch, but It's clear to me that he was making the effort to do it right.

Of all the live videos of The Answer that I've seen, this if the first one where he doesn't seem content to just toss it out there, like "well...it's been a while but since you asked, here it is..." and then proceed to play the basic chord structure, sing whatever he can remember of the lyric, and bluff or skip over the notes that he can't hit.

You can see the effort he's putting in to this performance to get it as close to right as he can.

And that tossed out, "Sh!t, I faked my way through that one!" just made me laugh, because it was just such BS. Especially when he turned away from the mic and you can see that he looks kinda relieved, but happy about the way it turned out.

I don't think he 'faked' anything! It looked to me like he worked his ass off for every ****ing note of that performance!

Is it sad that he had to work that hard to get it right? Perhaps. Maybe he was embarrassed that it obviously took so much effort to do it way it should be done and that's what's behind the BS comment at the end. But at least he recognized the need and was willing to try. Gotta give him credit for that!
