Dude, it was a joke. I mentioned headlining Coachilla because they have a thing about reuniting classic rock bands.

No, no and no

They pride themselves in being songwriters, creating something THAT’S THEIRS and leaves a legacy behind and it’s pretty clear that they haven’t done that in a very long time, just churning out mediocre albums so nobody forgets about them. Isn’t that the reason why Richie escaped from his golden cage? Not bashing him at all, I’m absolutely on his side in this, but he hasn’t even started his new *life*!! Richie’s new project is nowhere to be seen. He wanted to find new challenges, not commit to the unstoppable faceless machine that sucked the soul out of him (or something like that, hard to understand half of what he says). When did he have the time to experience that freedom, to find himself again and bla bla?

Don’t believe it at all, that would mean Richie is the biggest hypocrite ever. I really understand that he didn’t feel the band anymore, that he had outgrown them (or this incarnation of the band from the past 15 years), and if he had been respectful to his old fans I’d have supported him (buying records, going to the concerts) and don’t care if he didn’t return for a long time. But returning for the money? I’m sure the casuals would eat up the whole “prodigal son is back, brotherhood alive again” crap and frankly, most still don’t even know that he left or that he is out until further notice, but I want to believe they are smarter than that. They are (the band) still in a position of power within the industry. That’ll be a step back for so many reasons, I’m sure I don’t need to list even one.

Let Richie fall and get up as many times as he needs to get his mojo back. Let the band struggle through another boring greatest hits tour until only a bunch of people show up. Let’s them make mistakes and learn, not put a freaking band aid over a huge wound and call it a day.

So again, no, no and no!!

And besides...It’s TOO DAMN SOON TO TOUR AGAIN no matter what!

God, what a mess of tour it’s going to be if this turned up to be true

Does a promise really break if nobody sees it fall?

There have been many good points brought up in this thread and I agree with a majority.

But, here's my question.

I don't understand the "it's too soon to tour again "mindset. Jon is about to be fifty four. Same with Dave. I've lost track of Tico's age.

Point is, if not now, when? They aren't getting any younger. There's not going to be many more chances for us to see them to be honest.

Richie or not, I'll probably see them for what could be the last time and enjoy it.

NB : the Search button returned this old thread when I was looking for a Bobby thread. Interesting.

Wrong excuse! J. Geils Band fired their leader, J. Geils, and yet the band is still called J. Geils Band (they opened for BJ in the USA in 2013).

Nonsense. Will not end the world if they make an album / Tour every 5 years. U2 do, and so they will remain united for more long. Make an album / tour, because they are running out of time is bullshit.
