There is an acoustic guitar being played in the song so it's pretty definite that he will use it.

Though I find it barely noticeable. Imo it wouldn't be any loss for the sound dropping it when playing live.

Jon dropping his acoustic guitar wouldn't be any loss in most of the songs he uses it, especially since they have two guitarists onstage nowadays. But he likes to do that Springsteen/Dylan singer-songwriter style when performing because he somehow thinks that that's what makes people take him more seriously as an artist.

Well, that sounds very plausible! (No irony intended)

I ran the song through a vocal remover and heard a few neat things. What Dave is playing in the verse, and it's Dave doing the high harmony in the chorus. Some small guitar parts I never noticed, buried in the mix.

I think I can also hear Jon a bit, especially in the "This house is not for sale" lines - he's definitely singing the higher melody.

Yup. It's Dave doing the high part and then back to Jon for "Thiiiiis house is not for sale"

True, there is some interesting stuff buried in the mix. There used to be times when you didn't have to apply vocal removers to distinguish who sang what and what was being played. Actually it should be the producer's job to arrange all the parts it in a way that gives you the chance to hear these sings when listening to the final mix.

Very true!

Btw, Phil X confirming on twitter what we all already knew - he didn't play the solo on this song. Unfortunately I have no idea how to share links to tweets, but hey, it's out there

I don't know if I agree, I don't think this is a sign of a bad producer. It's not that I couldn't hear what was being played, moreso that there's parts I didn't notice was there to thicken the sound. The album Bounce is FILLED with baritone guitars to really thicken the guitars and I never noticed that until I messed around with settings. Ditto for Kiss's Destroyer album. They'd use acoustics and piano chords in the mix to ooph it up.

But again, Shanks packs way too much in for my liking. This song, and god hoping album, is produced much better than WAN was, it sounds far less dense and painful to listen to so let's hope they changed things up. The song has far less vocal tracks than BWC did for sure.
