Nice of Richie. I don't think a "nice song" or a "sounds great" is necessary or warranted, fans read too much into things. He probably knows that it's gathered enough attention and he just wants to wish his band of 30 plus years the best. They're adults, neither side needs the other kissing ass.....

Good of him to do but not a coincidence that he's announced/announcing shows? He will get some respect again from fans who'll snap tickets up as they will 'forgive' him.

Doubt it...the anti-Richie fans are unlikely to change their minds about him from a video like this. Some of them have so much venom for him you'd think he committed murder, rather than left their favourite band....

Also doubt it, because Richie never came across as the smart guy Sure, someone could've advised him to do it, but I think it's more likely he just wanted to say "hi" to the guys and stay in touch...
