No specific rating system that I could decipher on this review yet the author raves about the new album here. Enjoy!!

Sorry for being the party pooper, but these positive reviews are written by (sometimes casual) fans. If they're not fans, they're definitely not music critics.

That being said, if the album gets a good review (4/5 or more) from a well known outlet, it will be something to be excited about and I would happily eat my words.

Very ture. However, the very negative review from Classic Rock (a well-known outlet) was written by a fan who many here have confirmed is a good guy but is very biased. So, it's all bullshit isn't it?

At the end of the day, it's all just people's opinions. They have as much validity as yours or mine. Whilst it would be nice to see the wider public give it good reviews, As has been said before, pretty much all BJ albums including slippery and td have been slated by critics so we don't need to hold too much stock in them.

Not really. Even though he was a biased fan, that review was very well-written and the points were valid, whether you agree with them or not. I have no problem with that review.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying the positive fan biased reviews don't have valid points?

Not that they don't have valid points, but these opinions don't mean any more than our little reviews in this forum. The same way an basketball article from an ESPN analyst carries much more significance than some random local blog or something. My point - only positive reviews from credible outlets are ones that should be celebrated or reacted to.

I was simply defending that particular writer, because his review, while mostly negative, was really good and he knew what he was talking about.

Okay, that makes sense. Yes, Tony knows the band and has been writing for a while although not what he does for a living.
