Default Barred Performer Appears by Hologram, Concert Shut Down Anyway

Quote:
Chicago Tribune: Rapper Chief Keef appeared...at a Hammond (Indiana) music festival Saturday night, but his performance was shut down by police within minutes.

Planned as a benefit for a toddler and a friend of the rapper's who were killed earlier this month, (it) was originally scheduled to take place last week...But pressure from (Chicago Illinois) City Hall, which said the show "posed a significant public safety risk," caused the theater to cancel the event...

The rapper, who has had various legal troubles...(and has) outstanding warrants in (Illinois)...partnered with Los Angeles-based Hologram USA to beam his performance from a soundstage in Beverly Hills, California...(to) Craze Fest, a daylong hip-hop festival at Wolf Lake Pavilion in Hammond, Indiana...

Chief Keef played one song, his hit I Don't Like, and was talking about putting a stop to violence when the power was cut off. Police rushed toward the stage...Shining flashlights, they ordered concertgoers to leave. Fans who gathered Saturday left the grounds in an orderly fashion, though disappointed...
When I was in college many moons ago, I did a report on the future potential of hologram technology. And Jon has always said that he wished there really was such a thing as Star Trek-type travel so that the band could transport themselves to a gig and be back home in time for dinner.

Here are HologramUSA videos from a TV show and the live-without-being-live Mariah Carey. So is the live feed is about to go the way of the horse and buggy? I doubt that a hologram is cheaper. At any rate, it would sure solve the problems of fans trying to get onstage!

P.S. Looks like Keef's legal troubles include back child support -- grow up and pay up, man!
