Back from the Main Square Festival where Pearl Jam played on Saturday. The best show of the day and of the festival. It was my first Pearl Jam's concert, and they played some of my favourite songs like Got Some and Breathe from their current album and Black, Alive, Jeremy... It was great and pure rock'n'roll. Eddie's voice is so impressive, the band played hard, the sound was loud, and great energy in the audience. I can't wait to see this band again.

They were in Werchter, Belgium yesterday, and for all my friends who where there, best show of the festival too (Muse, Green Day, Rammstein were the other headliners)

Setlist from Arras, France:

Unthought Known
Got Some
Given To Fly
State Of Love And Trust
Corduroy
Even Flow
Just Breathe
Of The Earth
Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
Porch
Red Mosquito (with Ben Harper)
Jeremy
Black
The Fixer
Alive
Baba O'Riley (The Who cover)
Yellow Ledbetter

Incidentally, here's my slightly delayed Hyde Park review:

The setlist:

Set 1

* Given To Fly
* Why Go
* Brain Damage (Pink Floyd cover)
* Corduroy
* Got Some
* Once
* World Wide Suicide
* Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
* Amongst The Waves
* Even Flow
* Unthought Known
* Nothingman
* Arms Aloft (Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros cover)
* Not For You
* Of The Earth (new song)
* State Of Love And Trust
* Do The Evolution
* Wasted Reprise
* Better Man / Save it for Later (The Beat cover)

Encore 1

* Just Breathe
* Red Mosquito (with Ben Harper)
* Black
* Porch

Encore 2

* Go
* The Fixer
* Alive
* Yellow Ledbetter

Now that's almost definitely the best structured setlist I've seen the band play, and it meant that I finally got to see Black played up close, which was a truly phenomenal experience: the atmosphere in the crowd, singing the outro vocals, with Eddie doing the "We belong together" bit over us was amazing. Cool to see Just Breathe, Amongst The Waves and Unthought Known from Backspacer, which I didn't see last year. Good to hear Corduroy and Yellow Ledbetter again, neither of which I've seen since 2006

The band were all great of course, and they do seem to actually suit bigger stages better ... both Eddie and Matt spent some time running to the far edges of the stage, which was cool. A great show, and so far my favourite gig of this year.

Nah, I rarely take pictures at gigs, because my camera phone is so rubbish, and my digital camera is too bulky to carry with me!

Glad you had a great time, Walrus. Amazing setlist, too. Especially with 'Amongst The Waves/'Unthought Known', my favourites from the new album.

No, it's Pearl Jam. Question answered, topic can be locked.

Salaam Aleikum,

That's not very nice, Seb. Pearl Jam are a very good band indeed. Why the bitterness?
