Would have been posted a year ago, but thought it was worth revisiting this Richie interview -

http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/playe...Interview.html

Interesting how he describes writing with Jon as a 'debate'.... he clearly prefers being on his own.

Wouldn't be surprised if, despite all the fashion promo stuff, he was writing another album.

liljovi93 10-17-2013 11:45 AM

I think it's pretty obvious that Richie enjoyed writing his own album more than he did when doing 'What About Now?' and why shouldn't he? He got to do what he wanted. He got the final say in it all and he probably enjoyed having that type of freedom.

If Jon gave the band another year off instead of bringing them back in, then I think everything would be fine.

I'd much rather have a new Richie solo album than any band output of the moment. Sure, AOTL wasn't a musical in revelation by any means, but I felt much more sincerity in some of the songs than I've done in Jovi albums in the last 5 or more years.

Maybe it's time to Jon put out a solo record as well with no pressure.

That might help Bon Jovi IMO.

Both (Jon and Richie) should make solo albums. And it would be great coincide in the same year.

Im sorry but I dont see him upset or unhappy or even bored in the videos of the tour before April.
He's just...there...being himself. Just like last tour?
And the 'Jon told him to' thing...I see no reason to believe that unless it was like 'ask your self if you still want to be here and when you have the answer come back...or not' but since Richie has said he does want to come back I dont see what the problem is right now...shit probably got way more serious than it was at the start.

I was at an early March show and at the end of the show, during the final bows, it struck me that I had never seen the entire band, every single member, appear to be more happy. For me, it was probably the best show that I had seen. Was third row, looked right into Richie and Jon's eyes, they seemed so... happy. Everyone seemed incredibly happy. Like everyone else, I would love to know what happened?

(I was also able to get a little hand touch from Richie, I looked straight in his eyes, again - he appeared to be genuinely excited/happy.) The only reason I'm writing this reply is because the entire band seemed to be on the same page, and thrilled to be together playing a show, it had never been more obvious, at least for me.)

On a side note, the last time that I checked, the only Richie cam pic still on his Twitter feed was of this show. Interesting or not...

Sad to hear that R is doing the fashion/mall thing, really weird.

yes.

Let's imagine this:

You're 15, and you're dad is never home. Your birthday, your graduation, etcetera because he is touring to please some assholes in a fan board.

With time maybe his family got sick with this. That justify his trip with his daughter to Europe, maybe it was planed way before since they're suppoused to be doing a break. Then, your "boss" call you up one day and says he's tired of his vacation in Bahamas and he'd releasing another record/tour.

Honestly, if I was him, after 30 years touring, I'd tell my boss to suck my dick. But hey, if I was his son, I would do the same.

Agreed. It's nice to have something extra musically than the same old tired Jovi recipe. Lyrically I appreciate some honesty and rawness which we haven't really had from the band since 1995.... unless you count Whole Lot of Leavin'.

I'm sure they were. It only takes one thing to kick off something that could of been going on for years.

I remember before 'What About Now?' came out, I was saying something wasn't right with Jon & Richie as were a couple of others and then when the 'Because We Can' video came out and we seen them with their arms around eachother etc... it changed my mind slightly. Obviously, a lot of this was fake and just for the cameras.

I want a Jon solo album. I'm sure if he put his heart into it and didn't go for the radio friendly hit, he could pull off something great.

I'm 18, my dad's been away for a lot of my life 'cause he does Business Development which involves taking his company into new markets and either setting up shop or starting a joint venture or acquisition. He's on the road at least 4 days in a week but when he gets a break he takes my mother and I on vacations, sometimes just me for bonding but it's quite tough as I'm not used to having him around so often and after our trip, he's back for a day before heading on the road again. I guess you get used to it.

And yet this 15 year old has an awfully good life thanks to the proceeds of pleasing these assholes on a fan board, so that argument is total nonsense. If the old man has to go to work, then he has to go to work to pay the bills like the rest of us in this world. Plenty of kids have parents away on work, split up or dead.

If he wanted the time off so desperately he could have spoken with Jon like adults to sort it out rather than ended up in the stupid situation pissing away 30 years of goodwill.

And apparently he and his kid have no problem with him still being gone, only this time for a fabric promotion tour. Oh wait, free clothes for her. ;)

No, you are wrong. Maybe initially he tried to argument with Jon, who knows? We all know how prick Jon can be when he wants something, what happened between Richie and Jon we will only know when somebody speaks up.

But dude, put something in your mind: only because he is guitarist of a gigantic corporation, he's not in any way obligated to do this just to satisfy you or whoever wants him back to Bon Jovi, it's his life and its now or never. Richie ain't gonna live forever.

He just wants to live while he's alive.

Then why the **** co-write half an album and begin the tour. Jon didn't put a gun to his fukcing head and force him into being part of What About Now. If he didn't want any part of this from the beginning then he should have opted out. No one would have blamed him or had any ill feeling towards him. It would've been a Jon solo project (which is what it should have been). The guy has acted very unprofessionally and totally deserves all the crap that people are dishing to him.

Whatever way you spin it, this is fact:

RICHIE SAMBORA QUIT THE BON JOVI WORLD TOUR TO SELL CLOTHES WITH A TRAMP IN SHOPPING MALLS

Its plain and simple. He's mugged everyone off.

Gabriel Shoes 10-18-2013 10:19 PM

Why is so hard is to understand that people might have the right to get sick of doing the same shit for your entire life, maybe selling clothes in a suburban Mall it's all he wants to do RIGHT NOW.

If he wants to sit in his chair and get fat watching tv and eating buffalo wings he's in his right to do so. I would totally feel sorry for him, but I can understand.

I really would like to do that. Just for like a day or something, but sit on my couch for an entire day, watch like 10 movies and eat buffalo wings with ranch dressing like a fat SOB all day!!!

I'm sorry. Are you not gettin my point? Richie can toss himself off till his heart's content if he wants....no issue with that. But dont quit a tour mid way through, let fans down and then act like its totally ok. He had a commitment to fulfill. If he doubted his commitment to the cause then he should have never agreed to the album. If you cant see this you need your head examined.

Wtf are you talking about Rolio?

New David interview. David puts the ball in Richie's court and says until he is great again. Seems to think that this will past and all will be good again:

http://rockcandy.omaha.com/2013/10/1...boras-absence/

Kevin Coffey: Do you know when Richie Sambora might rejoin the band?

David Bryan: I don’t know. The ball’s still in his court. Until he’s all great and helping us out, I don’t know.

There’s trials and tribulations in a band. This too shall pass. Everything will be good.

So again Tico and David show that they are with Jona and Richie is reason why we don't have him on tour.

This is old. Why bring it up AGAIN?! If had upset Richie at the time he could have walked. Not midway through the tour.
