No, he's not. During every Bon Jovi that I have been to...no matter how "lame" the crowd or Jon are reacting to one another; Bad Medicine and its accompanying medleys have consistently woken everyone up and gotten people on their feet.

It's during this part of the show where Jon's showman abilities truly come through. Removing this would be completely stupid.

10 years ago I might have agreed but It's become more about the Bobby show "The Human Jukebox" It's so staged and corny that I really don't care for it anymore. Jon pretends like he doesn't know what's coming yet it's 1 of 5 songs that's he's been playing for years. They all make faces like no one knows what's coming yet it's part of the set-list. Then Jon acts shocked and does that stupid Jagger impression where he just looks like a complete fool.

The worst part is, once you think it's all over, Dave kicks it off like it's a brand new song after Jon mutters "one more time". The crowd goes nuts and then you realize, "shit, they are still playing this same f-ing song" IMO, Jon can hardly do the song justice anymore. He screeches through the "i need a respirator" part worse then he sings Bad Name.

They should just cut the BS and play Bad Med and a few covers in their entirety.

I kinda think that sums it all up.. Most people who see the show will not know it's staged and they love that part.

That's the thing. Rdkopper, you have to realise that only probably about 10% of the audience at a Jovi show are die hards and have been to multiple shows in double figures

True. But even though I'm fully aware that it's all staged, and that the covers are most likely selected before the show, I still like everything about it, even the Jagger impression. Also besides the 1-2 notes that always come out flat in that song, I think Jon can still sing this one pretty well...

No he can't. All the verses are flat and the chorus is mostly done by the backing vocals. Just have a listen to any rendition of Bad Medicine since 2005 or something. He skips half the chorus.

But as far as it being entertaining I agree. it's one of the songs they alter when playing live as opposed to it just being the 4 minutes it is on record. And yeah, we all know the covers are staged most of the time but it's no different than Jon saying "Let's see if I remember this" only to then kick into a rare song they rehearsed earlier that day. We all know he's got a teleprompter to remind him of the lyrics, and a band that'll back him up if he screws up the chords. Doesn't mean it's no good. :)

Since Jon's so concerned about being relevant, how about some modern covers? Anything from the 00s, RCHP, The Killers, Muse, Kings of Leon, Matchbox Twenty etc.

Because Bon jovi are bigger than any of that crap you mentioned

They actually did that in 2008 with Mercy, for example.

Yeah, some notes are flat and he skips the "bad medicine" part of the chorus, but that doesn't bother me, in fact I like that the rest of the band and the fans sing that part. Same happens in LOAP, but, as you said, doesn't mean it's no good :-)
