Why won't anyone ask it ?
Everytime I see videos of these Runaway Tour Q&A IT's always the same questions: "Jon, how do you feel about the new album?" "Do you still enjoy touring?" Bla bla bla ...
I've always wondered why won't anybody ask a question like: Jon, on the last tour you had a lot of issues with your vocals, specially towards the end. What do you think about it ? What are you doing about it? What happens ? You mike gets silenced? Are you removed from the venue? Is there a sniper ready to shoot you ? Is it like North Korea ? I'd really like to see him adressing subjects like these instead of the same shit everytime. |
90% of the people who attend to it don't care about Jon's voice. They care about Jon's hair.
And of course there's a kind of screening of the questions before Jon answer them. |
To be fair, if I ever met Jon I'd probably end up mumbling something about what the music's meant to me.
Also, I'm not sure I'd want to pay thousands of dollars for a room of angry backstagers to kill me. :p |
Yeah people are definitely going to pay thousands to meet their idol and ask why their voice is so shit.
That sort of thing needs to be done by a journalist or in an interview with someone with some knowledge of the band and some degree of fandom. |

They won't allow it. Simple as that. They have strict and ridiculous rules. You can't just ask anything you want and I bet if you dare to do so, you are banned for life.
The one I attended didn't have a Q&A or I SWEAR I would have asked (I have no intention to go to one of those events EVER again anyway) |
Well let's have a whip round, buy me a plane ticket and I'll go and knock on his front door and ask him. ;)
I remember an interview in the UK (maybe 2010) when someone (maybe phillip schofield) commented on jon still being able to hit the high notes of livin on a prayer. I remember the band going silent and jon looking very sheepish. |

Beyond that I don't think it's something that's been addressed publicly by Jon. There was those comments in 2013 where Jon said jokingly that those high notes in prayer are a bitch, and that he would try anything if it meant he would sing good every night. But as far as loosing his voice and loosing a fair amount of his range I'm not aware of any comments on the matter. He should though, it's very obvious and he's only human, I'm betting a lot of people would be able to understand.... |
Most of the questions asked there are boring but what do you expect him to say when someone asked him about his voice being shot?
The only thing I can imagine is something like 'How do you deal with vocal changes and how do you keep your voice in shape?' But I don't think most of the people at these events don't even notice the changes;). I don't think you get banned for asking these questions as long as it is respectful anyway. |

Wish people pulled up Jon on more things. Be good to see what he has to say when someone asks different questions than the usual. |
Schofield asking Jon about the ticket prices was about as hard hitting an interview as Jon has faced which says it all.

Threads like this piss me off to be honest.
I think 90% of people if they met Jon wouldn't dare ask such a question and would tread the line of 'thanks, changed my life, mean so much to me' etc. as someone pointed out previously. So why rag on people who pay money to go to these events? They can ask whatever they like. And for the record, Jon is not the only one who says the same things all the time during interviews. |

One of the best questions I seen asked was at the Dublin Q&A and they asked Jon to play the set list they created. He didn't do all the songs of course, but even he liked the question, knew it was different and spoke a bit about it. If people go to ask the same questions, fine. From where I'm sat I'd like to see other questions, though. Nothing wrong with that. |
It kind of reminds me of that interview Denis Leary did about his character in Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll. His character hates Jon because his girlfriend slept with him, but if Jon was ever on the show, he said his character would be kissing his ass. (He was publicly inviting Jon to be on the show.) I imagine most the "big talkers" around here would be the same way if they ever met him.

The one and only time I met Jon (and the rest of the band) I thanked him for his music. Trite - yes. But it was about all I could fit in while being shuffled by him. And it came straight from my heart. |

The times I met him I think I mumbled something (and there was that one time when I went speechless) Honestly, I don't think he'd care if I'd tell him what their music means to me and blah blah...
But if I had the chance to interview him, I would definitely ask him a few things he wouldn't like (not to piss him off, but because I want to know) and tell him how much I hated WAN for example (again, not that he'd care) :p |

Iīve always thought that I meet Jon, the first thing I will ask itīll be "why are you still playing Captain Crush live over and over if everyone hates it?"

In fact, in the spanish bon jovi forum fans we know "captain Crush..." as "the perfect song to take a break and go to buy a beer" :) |

Actually that happened with quite a few songs I hate, and they... well, HE makes up those lists based on audience reaction. In Vegas there was this girl wearing a shirt that read "Thick as thieves" and Obie asked if we liked that song... The girl said she loved it and he said "it probably won't be played again because from what we got from the last 6 concerts, people hates it..." (Sorry my english sucks ) |

Theres no ridiculous rules at all accept dont be disrespectful. I dont get why anyone would want to embarrass a man in front of a room full of his fans. Im not saying its not a valid question, this is just not the forum for it. |

Because, really, if I had the chance to ask him anything, I'd ask a million questions I have about the band. I certainly wouldn't waste my chance doing a captious question about something that he might be aware of and working on.

I honestly don't think Jon's feelings would get hurt if someone asked him about his voice. He's brought up his vocal problems (between the lines, of course) a couple of times during the last few years - for example, in this BBC radio interview last year. Listen to what Jon says from here on:
https://youtu.be/qH45ZhVoVF8?t=5m25s He's fully aware of it. If someone directly asked him about it, his answer would probably be something like this: "Well... first of all, I'm out. I'm old. I'm tired. I mean, I'm f***ing nearing on 56, hahaha! Then, when I think about all the hassle that's been happening during the last four or five years, I can't really help it. It's... (ten seconds' break)... it's been really hard for me to take. It's moments like this when you just want to give yourself the finger and say "Look at this mess around you, f***er, you're hurt. But you're healing." And I'm trying to do so all the time. It probably won't be anytime soon, but I'll get there again. I just need time. Thanks for asking." IMO, the example above looks/sounds pretty much like what I'd imagine JBJ to reply, with all the curse words, pauses and everything. I just wish somebody had the balls to ask him about it. Truth to be told, Backstagers definitely wouldn't be happy, and Jon himself would probably get a bit off-track for a while (as he wouldn't be expecting it), but I'm certain that he would at least give some kind of an answer to the question. |
