New CD "30 Years of Rock & Roll" ?!

Hello,

a new Bon Jovi Live CD "30 Years of Rock & Roll" is coming soon. At amazon.com the label is "Mercury". Is that an official release ?!

Bon Jovi - 30 Years of Rock & Roll -... Bon Jovi - 30 Years of Rock & Roll -...

Maybe it's part of the whole 'deluxe'/'anniversary' release project for this year. Hopefully it will have remastered tracks from classic performances. If it's just another "Inside Out" then I'm out.

Savvi 09-25-2014 02:38 PM

Surely it can't be another rehash of previously released live cuts. They couldn't do that to us yet again... surely... right?

Fingers crossed for something good.

Walkerboy 09-25-2014 04:47 PM

With a BestBuy price of $26.99 I am guessing it's minimum of 2 but maybe 3CD?!?

Should be at least 10 years of official new live material on there.... But no doubt it will still include what we already have as well.
Mind you, with Jon's voice as bad as it has been for the last 5 yrs, there's a lot of studio manipulation required to make it sound good.

Rdkopper 09-25-2014 04:52 PM

Judging by the price it's at least 2, maybe 3 cds.

The only way this will interest me is if there are unreleased live material from back in the day. Hammersmith, Count Basie, etc. And we better get some of the unreleased goods such as The Soul Truth and Cadillac Man, Etc

And yes, this is the 2nd project that Obie was working on.

Even if they do plan on doing other special edition releases, the two projects that Obie worked on was this live project and the NJ project..... Maybe he is working on them now but there is no way that Obie would work on all the albums in a row prior to anyone of then being released.

Johny 09-25-2014 04:57 PM

When I talked to Obie here in Prague he told me that they might release a bits from many show of the Because We Can tour. So I hope it's not it... However he also told me that something is in the works with the Jersey demos and we got them..

ezearis 09-25-2014 05:43 PM

Hope there's a lot of stuff from the Lost Highway + The Circle + Live 2011 tours there. We'll have to wait.

I'd rather have another demo compilation, though. But any new material is welcome.

rolo_tomachi 09-25-2014 07:40 PM

Ohhh a shame, it is probably this:

CD1: Live tracks from Because We Can The Tour.

CD2: Live tracks from Special Editions 2010.

DVD: Live performances from:

-Live from London 1995
-Crush Tour: Zurich 2000
-Live at Madison Square Garden 2008

*And others from Because We Can The Tour:
-Cleveland OH.
-MetLife, NJ.
-Brisbane, AUSTRALIA.

Where are all these unreleased songs they have in vault? I will not live forever dammit.

Me neither - I really wanted to hear something new and different.

nickolai 09-25-2014 08:43 PM

I think Rolio is right. We're just gonna get shit that we have already heard before, that we all have. Obie will never pull his finger out and give us what we really want. the NJ Deluxe was so underwhelming.

What I want:

CD1: Hammersmith 1990 - in its entirety in glorious mastered clarity
CD2: 15 live quality tracks from the KTF and These Days tour
CD3: 15 live quality tracks from 2000-2010 including the raraties from the O2 residency.

Anything else I am just not interested in

liljovi93 09-25-2014 09:17 PM

Any new release I like to pre-order/buy on the day but IF this is a 'Because We Can Tour' mix of songs, I highly doubt I'd spend any money on it. I'd be so disappointed if that was the case...

If it is from that shite then it will just go to reaffirm that the Band is just not in touch with the fans whatsoever

But who are the fans in 2014? The Dry County fans are just 1% of the fan population. And of that population, 90% only come here for new information and have no real interest in participating within any other topics so this board really just represents about 30 of Bon Jovi's millions of fans.

I think Backstage Members are the real fan targets. They still enjoy the more recent band activity.

The only thing I would hope is on our side here is:

- How could the band release anything for a 30 year anniversary under the band name without Richie on guitar? Although the early WAN tour performances with Richie are better the the later ones with Phil, I just don't think there is enough material for a proper live album or DVD with just Richie's performances.

- The already released "Inside Out" a few years ago. Why would they release basically the same thing again?

- If Obie was in the vault looking through the NJ demos, one would think that he was in there looking for live material too. Why record and have all these older shows in the vault if they plan on doing nothing with them?

- Any type of milestone release should represent something collective throughout all the years. Not just the past 5.

Becky 09-26-2014 12:07 AM

If this is a legit release, I hope they do a better job of putting it together than that did the first live album. I listened to it once and knew I had bootlegs that were better.

Rdkopper 09-26-2014 01:03 AM

This will be so disappointing if it's a live CD compiled of post 2k performances. I only have about 30 soundboard concerts and 5 official releases all of which could be heard on YouTube.

The last thing I or anyone else on this board needs to hear is another live version of You Give Love A Bad Name, It's My Life, or any Bon Jovi hit song for that matter.

We need some rare shit. Something to get excited about.

Dave88 09-26-2014 08:53 AM

Since it's called "30 Years of Rock & Roll" it's a safe bet to assume it will be a career-spanning compilation and not a mix of the last couple tours..

SuperBrad 09-26-2014 12:30 PM

Surely they wont bother with stuff we already have ..... Jesus ..... After madison , inside out , blah blah . Its gotta be something we dont already have .... 2 or 3 songs from each and every tour will do but not the standard stuff pleaseeeee .

Denmad 09-27-2014 01:09 AM

Collector's Choice Music described the product as a 2CD album.
So most likely it will be just 30 songs to celebrate the 30th anniversary ;)

I believe that half of the content will be rarities, but I have no doubt that at least the second half is a sort of "best of" songs (to please the average listener).

Fair point, it very well might not be live. I can't see the point of another greatest hits. They flat out waited too long between Crossroad and 2010, with downloading being what it is right after HAND was the opportune time.

Xavi 09-27-2014 03:08 AM

I bet it will be a live album but of the best covers they have played over the 30 years.

Jon would NEVER put out a cover album. Not for 30 years and not even when they are washed up and need cash (if that ever happens).

I think it will be something that could appeal to everyone. Live rarities is my best guess. I think it will include tracks like their famous MTV acoustic performance of Prayer and Wanted. Probably some from Red Bank and Hammersmith. Unreleased songs. Maybe a cover or two.

They could go the studio route but they just did a greatest hits and I think they would save the studio tracks for future special editions.

This is going to be a live album of special performances. I just hope that their version of special performances matches ours.

Edit: My sources confirmed that this in fact a live album and I'll probably have the track listing as early as tomorrow. Now my sources have been wrong before but not too often.

It's going to be a live album with a few standout songs, but most stuff is just your average performance by nowadays standards. There's a few songs that are enjoyable, but most of it is mixed as poorly as their previous live album was.

The desired tracklists everyone has will never be released because the band just doesn't have it in a quality that would be suitable for release. It just isn't there. There are bits and pieces, but the band has no archive with every show out there, it's a myth.

Oh, and the tracklist isn't out there yet.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

This may be true, I do not think they saved a lot of material of the eighties and nineties for example.

My desire would be to have a release of "KTF An Evening with Bon Jovi" remastered on DVD as "Nirvana MTV Unplugged in New York" a couple of years ago.

Something like:
2 CDs - Full show and some discards.
1 DVD - Concert remastered and includes some new songs that were not included in the VHS, also some extras of the band rehearsing.

That would be a great release, this concert is one of the best.

Rdkopper 09-28-2014 02:22 AM

Here is an interview from '93 where Jon states that they record "quite a bit" and they take it all and throw it in a closet for a future release.

2:45

Quite a bit to me means that they recorded a lot. Maybe not every single show but it sounds like they had enough material in '93 for a release if they needed it. I believe there are 3 (or I have 3) recordings of Cadillac Man so I'm sure they have at least one in Soundboard. There is no way that they only recorded a select amount of songs for Hammersmith. They have the entire show and edited through it for b-sides or whatever.

The only other live song I really want is the Soul Truth. I know the 1992 Red Bank show was recorded. I'm not sure about the '90 and '91 ones though.

Matthew Bongiovi ‏@TheMattBongiovi 2m

For whatever reason of the question of 30 yr CD there is none. Whatever is being passed is not official.

Rdkopper 09-28-2014 02:38 AM

Unfortunately, I still do not have the tracklisting.

My source is not a huge Jovi fan so I doubt he is sitting on the edge of his seat on a Saturday waiting for it. I don't want to keep emailing him either.

Once or if I get it, I'll post it immediately.

I have a feeling that will be available to the public on Monday anyway.

The only thing that is throwing me off is the fact that Amazon has this under 'Mercury' and CCM has it under 'Island' both are affiliates.

Is it possible that Matt just doesn't know about these releases?

It's not like Jon is promoting them.

Falco 09-28-2014 07:04 AM

Well, it's officially listed on two legit sites, I think Matt is just a dumb-dumb.

Honestly, they NEED to include the best version ever of Keep The Faith, the version from Anaheim in 2003 when he goes crazy in the middle with all the bomb noises and ad libbing!

That's a phenomenal performance. There's so many legendary performances that I feel that we'll always be disappointed by the contents of a live album.

Sears has it under Mercury
http://entertainment.sears.com/bon-j...l/602547026033

And Top Music Zone has it under Universal
http://www.topmusiczone.com/p1203848...ock--Roll.html

Matt is more of a Jon guy. When it comes to band stuff, I don't think he's so much in the loop. There hasn't been an official announcement on Bon Jovi.com so maybe that's the reason for his illiterate response.

The same thing happened with the New Jersey releases. We knew everything about them weeks before the official announcement took place.

I'm still keeping my finger crossed.

Lucas_Roli 09-28-2014 04:05 PM

I hope the album won't be filled with live version of post 2000 "hits". There are a few things i would love to see on this album
- a good quality version of LOAP where Jon sings the key change.
- We all Sleep Alone, You Keep Me Hanging On, Cadillac Man from Odeon 1990 and also The Sole Truth but I highly doubt we will ever hear this song on an album.
- live versions that weren't previously released as b-sides or on maxi singles

Javier 09-28-2014 05:48 PM

I wonder if they'll put 'I Don't Like Mondays' on there?? Because you know, they are aware of how much the fans want that song on a live compilation....

Denmad 09-29-2014 08:09 PM

If we look at the page below, we can see that the "new release" is marked in the list of Reissues.

If you look at other albums in that section, it looks like that's were they put compilation type albums. There are other new greatest hits and live albums from other artists.

It doesn't mean anything.

Well, at first glance it looked like a list of the re-releases of old records.

The entity responsible for issuing this is Universal Music Enterprises. Branch specializing in (mainly) the reissues and special editions of classic albums. Below is a full list of Bon Jovi releases, which came under the sign of UMe:
http://www.universalmusicenterprises.com/bonjovi

On this list are "One Wild Night Live" and "Fans Can't Be Wrong" but also... releases like a "Chronicles". I hope that in this case we're not dealing with something like that... ;)

Walkerboy 09-30-2014 01:18 PM

Amazon.co.uk shows it as being available only on import... Not a good sign that it's a "new" release.
