Let's rate: Dry County, the song

Hello folks,

If you would indulge the social researcher in me, I'd like fan rankings for dry county the song. Just give your honest view. I'm interested to see what sort of distribution we get, as Dry county generally tops best Jovi song polls along with these days, etc.

It may even help to have a listen to the song itself!

10. One of the best songs they've ever done, a great sprawling epic that is superb both lyrically and musically.

Ditto. :D

I think it's a great song, but if I'm being honest, I'd pick I Believe/Bed of Roses/Keep the Faith/In These Arms over it.

I give it a solid 8.

It's a 10.

Dry County is not my favorite song on Keep the Faith. But I think it is possible to look past favoritism and appreciate something even if you don't love it. In terms of songwriting, lyrics, music, arrangement, and mood it is a masterpiece.

Btw. I Believe is my favorite on Keep the Faith and I would give it a 9.

I am amazed by the music composition and the lyrics of this song. Easily one of the best songs of the band. The live performances were amazing also, especially when Jon improvise a speech before the solo.

But it is not the song that I would listen very frequently. I recognize it as a highlight of their career, but when I make a personal best of BJ cd for my car, I usually choose songs like IML, Prayer, Bad Name, Medicine, Make a Memory etc and not Dry County. These songs have a better place in my heart.

So, if I should count my personal preferences, 7/10. If not, 9/10!

I give it a 9. The mood is great, the instrumentation works perfectly and the 2nd verse is lyrically one of my favourites in the Jovi repertoir. The only slight downside I'd have is that the song (in comparison to These Days which is perfection to me) doesn't reach its full potential in the chorus. But I'm really just being picky there.
Stunning tune!

10. It's Bon Jovis Stairway To Heaven. For me it's a 592 second masterpiece.

Faceman 08-18-2016 06:24 PM

Agreed! It's their Stairway To Heaven, their Bohemian Rhapsody, their Bat Out Of Hell.
One song, one legend. There are other songs I like best but DC still is a musical masterpiece.
