U.S. College Football Hero Caught in Embarrassing Lie About Injury

Quote:

New York Daily News: University of Southern California's football coach said Tuesday that the Trojans are investigating team captain Josh Shaw’s claim that he sprained both of his ankles jumping from a balcony to save his 7-year-old nephew from drowning on Saturday night...

That disputed account described Shaw landing on concrete after “instinctively” leaping off a second-floor balcony to help a boy who could not swim and was “in distress without help nearby.” Asia Shaw, the player’s sister, corroborated that story to USAToday.com on Tuesday, saying her brother sprang to the rescue after the boy’s caretaker looked away for a moment.

“He was able to crawl into the pool and ushered his nephew to safety,” said the report at The Ripsit Blog. “Despite the intense pain in his legs, he was then able to grab the ladder and lift himself out of the pool with his upper body.”

...TMZ reported that police investigated claims that a suspicious person had been seen “shimmying” down a building near USC’s campus Saturday night, that a woman had identified the man as her boyfriend, Josh Shaw, and that Shaw had denied to the police that he had been at the building.
Don't know what's more pathetic about this guy -- that he'd use his sister and a child that way, or that he'd replay a scene out of a Pink Panther movie! I mean, if Josh really was the woman's boyfriend, why didn't he leave her home via her FRONT door? :D
Update: Shaw, a senior, has been suspended indefinitely -- or until the Trojans lose too many games after his ankles heal, whichever comes first!
