I was living my life like a long-lost weekend
Never felt nothing, jumping right into deep end
I wasn’t missin’ nothin’ that was ever worth getting
Never hung around enough to regret it

You came walking in late but just in time
You ended my excuses with a ten-cent rhyme
Your shoes and attitude were stacked way up high
I knew right then you were the story of my life.

Saturday nights gave me Sunday mornings
Opened my eyes now it’s a new day dawning
Think I might have pushed my luck a time or two
Everything about us is what gets me through
I never thought I’d hear the church bells ringing
I never learned the song this heart was singing
No regrets I took that step and I’m still falling
Saturday nights gave me Sunday mornings, yeah

When you're driving down a street that’s only going one way
Every day starts feeling like a month of Mondays
You should know I still got something left to prove
I know what it takes to get back to you

Saturday nights gave me Sunday mornings
Opened my eyes now it’s a new day dawning
Think I might have pushed my luck a time or two
Everything about us is what gets me through
I never thought I’d hear the church bells ringing
I never learned the song this heart was singing
No regrets I took that step and I’m still falling
Saturday nights gave me Sunday mornings, yeah

Remember those nights staring out at the lights
Making time with our feet in the sand
Making up words to our favorite songs
Laughin’ loud with those drinks in our hands
And as that boy put his head on her shoulder
She pulled him tight to get a bit closer
And as the world just disappeared
You whispered in my ear

Saturday nights gave me Sunday mornings
Opened my eyes now it’s a new day dawning
Think I might have pushed my luck a time or two
Everything about us is what gets me through
I never thought I’d hear the church bells ringing
I never learned the song this heart was singing
No regrets I took that step and I’m still falling
Saturday nights gave me Sunday mornings, yeah

Sunday mornings

Hmmm... Didn't he once say, "no video"?!

I thought it would be more practical to have the different versions in just one place (at least, it is for me!).

EDIT 7/22
We're now 99% sure that the correct lyrics are JackieBlue's latest attempt at it:

I was livin’ my life like a long lost weekend
Never felt nothin’, jumpin’ right into deep end
I wasn’t missin’ nothin’ that was ever worth gettin’
Never hung around enough to regret it

Came walkin’ in late but just in time
You ended my excuses with a ten-cent rhyme
Your shoes and attitude were stacked way up high
I knew right then you were the story of my life.

Oh Saturday night gave me Sunday morning
Opened my eyes and it’s a new day dawning
Think I mighta pushed my luck a time or two
Everything about us is what gets me through
I never thought I’d hear the church bells ringing
I never learned the song this heart was singing
No regrets I took that step and I’m still falling
Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning, yeah

Travelin’ down a street that’s only going one way
Every day starts feelin’ like a month of Mondays
Guess you know I still got somethin’ left to prove
I know what it takes to get back to you

Oh Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning
Opened my eyes and it’s a new day dawning
Think I mighta pushed my luck a time or two
Everything about us is what gets me through
I never thought I’d hear the church bells ringing
I never learned the song this heart was singing
No regrets I took that step and I’m still falling
Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning, yeah

Making up words to our favorite songs
Laughin’ loud with those drinks in our hands
And as that boy put his head on her shoulder
She pulled him tight to get a bit closer
And as the world just disappeared
You whispered in my ear,

Oh those Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning
Opened my eyes and it’s a new day dawning
Think I mighta pushed my luck a time or two
Everything about us is what gets me through
I never thought I’d hear the church bells ringing
I never learned the song this heart was singing
No regrets I took that step and I’m still falling
Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning, yeah

Sunday morning

- according to Savvi:

I was livin my life like a long lost weekend,
Never felt nothing, jumping right into the deep end,
I wasn't Mr. Nothing I was every where ????
Never hung around enough to regret it,

Keep writing in my notebook (?) just in time,
Delivered my excuses with a 10 cent rhyme
Shooting out of juvies stacked way up high,
I knew right then you were the story of my life,

Oh Saturday night gave me Sunday morning,
Open my eyes now it's a new day dawning,
Think I might have pushed my luck a time or two,
Everything about us is what gets me through,

I never thought I'd hear the church bells ringing,
I never learned the songs this heart was singing,
No regrets I took my step and im still moving,
Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning, yeah

Driving down the street there's something going the wrong way,
Everyday starts feeling like a month of Mondays,
Wishing though I still got something left to prove,
Know what it takes to get back to you,

Oh Saturday night gave me Sunday morning,
Open my eyes now it's a new day dawning,
Think I might have pushed my luck a time or two,
Everything about us is what gets me through,

I never thought I'd hear the church bells ringing,
I never learned the songs this heart was singing,
No regrets I took my step and im still moving,
Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning, yeah

Remember those nights staring right at the lights making time with our feet in the sand,
Making up words to our favourite songs laughed a lot with those drinks in our hands,
As that boy put his head on her shoulder,
She pulled him tight to get a bit closer,
And as the world just disappears,
You whispered in my ear,

Oh Saturday night gave me Sunday morning,
Open my eyes now it's a new day dawning,
Think I might have pushed my luck a time or two,
Everything about us is what gets me through,

I never thought I'd hear the church bells ringing,

Makes more sense than what I had, and you can "stack a deck" so at least your choices are from the same lexicon. Neither Jew nor Judas worked with "stacked". Now I'm thinking that whole verse is off because the last time I listened, I thought he said "You walked into the___ club, just in time" but I can't catch the missing word. And the other line sounded like " ...at you that's stacked way up high".

Thanks guys for the good work.

***Thread moved to New Releases section***

If what the French fan said is correct, there will be no inner sleeve with the printed lyrics so maybe this thread should be moved into the "games" section because we're having another case of misheard lyrics.

BTW, I can hear Judas but I can't hear club. Now what I can hear for sure is: mumbles mumbles mumbles

I've just found this on the web (but I don't think it's 100% correct):

I was livin’ my life like a long lost weekend.
Never felt nothin’, jumpin’ right into deep end.
I wasn’t missin’ nothing that was ever worth gettin’.
Never hung around enough to regret it.

You took your leap of faith, bud, just in time.
You ended my excuses with a ten-cent rhyme.
You’re shootin at a Jew that’s stacked way up high.
I knew right then you were the story of my life.

Oh Saturday night gave me Sunday morning
Open my eyes and it’s a new day dawning.
Think I mighta pushed my luck a time or two.
Everything about us is what gets me through.
I never thought I’d hear the church bells ringing.
I never learned the song this heart was singing.
No regrets I took that step and I’m still falling.
Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning, yeah.

Travelin’ down a street that’s only going one way.
Every day starts feelin’ like a month of Mondays.
Guess you know I still got somethin’ left to prove.
Is that what it takes to get back to you?

Oh Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning.

Remember those nights staring out at the lights.
Making time with our feet in the sand.
Making up words to our favorite songs.
Once alive with those drinks in our hands.
And as that fella put his head on her shoulder.
She pulled in tight to get a bit closer.
And as the world just disappeared.
You whispered in my ear.

Oh those Saturday nights gave me Sunday morning.
Sunday morning.

Dang it! Do you mind posting the link for where you found it? That's my original attempt and it definitely has errors! Someone must have cut and pasted before I deleted it from my post.

Yes, it's here:

Thanks! I've already found several sites so I guess they'll just have to deal with the wrong lyrics. It's going to be like herding cats now.

 Don't tell me! Yesterday I thought I had found fresher news about the new album on fansites in Spanish and in Italian... until I started to read and discovered a translation of my English translation (posted only here) of the French report from a fan who attended the RT event!!!

That's hilarious! And I was getting ready to repost it myself in response to a Topix question. Is that ok with you?

Old Joysey 07-20-2015 06:35 PM

Yes, of course, you can repost it, you don't need my permission! (and also post the link to the Billboard article since you're at it). I myself didn't ask the OP if I could translate and post her report elsewhere, that's how the internet works in the fans realm, doesn't it. Whatever you post on the internet, you gotta expect it to be copied and pasted onto other fansites. If you don't want to share, don't post at all and if you change your mind or want to correct a typo, sorry, too late, there's always somebody faster than you. O'bother!

hchb2000 07-21-2015 08:55 PM

Hi all!

What I hear in the second verse is:

"Came walking really late but just in time
you handled my excuses with a ten cent rhyme
(your) shoes and attitude were stacked way up high
I knew right there you were the story of my life"
