Seriously? His vocal chords were bleeding when they recorded that song. I can't even listen to it because it makes me physically feel pain to hear him singing so strained and pained.

I actually love that raw vocal. It's so real and you could feel the passion Jon pours into each song.

Becky 11-25-2014 06:25 PM

You can feel the BLOOD he poured into each song.

I like his passion during that era as well, but it can't make up for how bad his vocals are here. They recorded this live at the last US show in Nassau 1987 - the same night when they filmed the LOAP live video for the MTV Awards btw.

Rdkopper 11-29-2014 04:00 PM

If you include all members, these guys have a ton of songs. Between Studio, Soundboards, Bootlegs, Rehearsals, and Duets, you could put together a nice little compilation mix. Unfortunately, only a fraction of them (Please Come Home and I Wish Everyday) are worth anything of quality but then again, it's just fun holiday music. I had to edit the shit out of R2D2 to basically just include Jon's vocals. I couldn't take all the beeping and kid backing vocals. I did some clever editing with Funky Santa too. More Richie and less Everett.

I probably have close to 60 songs.

Even though it's from a rehearsal und sounds somehow so unrehearsed and off that even the out-of-tune-crew-choir version from Bon Jovi in Sydney last year was more enjoyable.

Btw - this is an amazing cover:

See, I don't know if I agree. Richie hits the notes with so much more ease... For fun, I might try and blend them together. I was going to overdub Ori's part with Jon on Audacity.

Rdkopper 12-03-2014 11:44 PM

Bty, that Europe version was excellent.

That's the way I see Jon doing it if he plans to revisit it during the fan club trip next week. He'll have the girls back him up like they do during Under Pressure.

bonjovi90 12-04-2014 01:38 PM

I Wish Everyday Could Be Like X-Mas and Run Run Rudolph from the Christmas show at Red Bank in 1995:

Especially the latter is great with Jon doing a reprise at 2:17:42!!!

Does anyone have a remastered version of Silent Night from one of the Christmas shows? I have an awful recording of it, but even with the bad recording, I could tell it was stunning.

Silent night live xmas 1986....apparently

Faceman 12-14-2014 06:07 PM

I think she meant the Christmas song "Silent Night", not the Fahrenheit version ;)

I have both but nothing in remastered quality. Although I appreciate the efforts, these recordings can't be remastered due to the excessive high pitched screaming girls. Songs like...

Drummer Boy
Silent Night
Sole Truth
Take Me Home

...are all treasures but are just ruined forever. I've tried all sorts of tricks like removing vocals or replacing certain parts that repeat in other areas of the songs to overlap the screams and nothing comes out good.

It's unfortunate because the recording aren't too bad in terms of quality and would be somewhat enjoyable if it wasn't for the screams.

Maybe there will be a technology that will remove that one day but right now, it's just not there, not even for professionals.

I noticed that 90% of the screams occur when Jon is NOT singing so someone could re-record just the music and then add Jon's vocals to the mix. The few screams that actually do occur when Jon does sing could be adjusted.... That's the only possibility but who the heck would do that anyway.

Yeah, that didn't sound that great. It seemed much better 20 years ago.

It's weird how they hit the low notes. Almost too low. They do it that way in the 1990 version too.

I'd kill to have those Xmas shows in pro quality! Those two from 1990 and the one from 1991 as well.

I want the one from the Fox Theater in Atlanta in 1995. All 4 of the others showed up in bootlegs, but not that one, the one I went to. :(

Yep! Those two (three), Hammersmith, and Dublin '88... That's all I need for my collection to be complete.

In regards to the Count Basie shows....
I think there is one from '90 and two from '91 (afternoon & evening - I went to both and still have the ticket stubs). Does anyone know the completed set-lists from both shows?

Thanks Man! It's the afternoon set that I'm looking for and now that you mention it, I think I have the cassette too.... It's the worst quality ever and I forgot about it.

There were two in 1990 and one (that I know of) from 1991. All of them were recorded but the quality is rather poor. On the other hand, better than nothing.
Especially the 1991 show is something soooo special. That's where the eras really mix. A new song which wasn't going to be released for next 9 months called Bed Of Roses performed the 1980s way, an incredible version of Levon and others. There's no similar show in their history.

Just pulled my ticket stubs and there were two shows done in '91. I paid 35.00 dollars for the 4:00pm show and 50.00 dollars for the 8:00pm show.... Bon Jovi were so good back then it amazes me that I got an all day Bon Jovi fest for 85 bucks during their prime. I wrote down the songs for both shows on the back of my 1 ticket stub. I actually remember doing it when I got home based off of memory. I have listed, Bed Of Roses in addition to two new songs... that's why I want both set lists. It could be the Soul Truth with KTF or ITA but I'd love to know.

Nothing beats that 80 style BOR. That might be their best performance of a single song ever.

The sad thing is, I have a feeling that those shows are not in the vault. I don't think any song from 90 or 91 were ever released.
