Slippery When Wet Blu-ray Audio

Slippery When Wet is being remastered for Blu-ray Audio. The disc will be released on Feb 17th. While we expect (or hope) bonus tracks (and videos) will be included, no other details have been released at this time.

Although it sounds cool, I wouldn't get any hopes up for bonus tracks. They are not going to release Slippery in Blu-ray Audio and then add in demos that could only sound subpar at best.

I was thinking, more or less, tracks that were actually recorded for Slippery but left off. I'm not expecting demos in 5.1. I'm expecting an expanded edition, perhaps. But maybe they'll just give us the album we've grown accustomed to. We'll post the official information as soon as it becomes available.

What are the odds that this will just be what we had on the DualDisc nearly ten years ago?

rolo_tomachi 12-30-2014 12:41 PM

boring release.

I'd say about 1:1.

The only way I'm buying another SWW release in its current form is if it's on LaserDisc.

rolo_tomachi 12-30-2014 03:52 PM

Of all the things that have already released, again SWW, that's very lazy even for Bon Jovi.

They could be released back 'KTF: An Evening With Bon Jovi', with good remaster of video and audio for DVD/CD.

But I guess they are not so brilliant.

Yea, they could have done a similar job to New Jersey. 2CD Deluxe Edition then a Super Deluxe Edition with a DVD of both An Evening with and Keep the Faith: the Videos.

Oooh... I like how you think! I wonder how we could swing getting you on their staff??:D Visuals of the rehearsal videos that are on YT would be fun, too; but I'm pretty sure they would never see the light of day.

I think that would defeat the object of what Blu Ray resolution has to offer to be honest. ;-)

Becky 01-02-2015 03:56 PM

I've never bought a Blu Ray disk. Does it requite a special type of player? (Sorry for the stupid question; I'm not a techie kind of gal!)

No, they'll work on a regular Blu Ray player/PS3. I'm not even sure if you can get systems specific to Blu Ray Audio like you could with DVD-A. Obviously make sure your player has the latest firmware just to be safe.

Yes, a Blu-ray player. PlayStation 3 and 4 work as well.

Rdkopper 01-02-2015 09:50 PM

I don't have a blue ray player and have no intention of getting one for another rerelease of Slippery. Considering the demographics of current Bon Jovi fans in combination of how the last rerelease of New Jersey sold, I see this as another failed attempt to push their back catalog.

Being that this is a Blue Ray release one could almost assume that videos will be included.

Becky 01-02-2015 10:06 PM

Thanks for the responses. My brother had a Blu Ray player, but I don't think it works anymore. We've never had a gaming console and have no plans to get one. This might be one official release that I don't buy.

Kathleen 01-03-2015 02:24 AM

We have a stand alone Blu-Ray player but I also have CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drives in my computer so that I can watch or listen on the computer. The drives are not any more now that just a standard DVD computer drive was. They are about $60.00 and worth the bucks since they are backwards compatible.

So I will probably see what is on this release and how much they are charging for it.

Me too. ;)

Captain_jovi 01-03-2015 04:12 PM

I'm not even sure what they could add to this after releasing it so many times. We have all the demos, we have the audio remastered a few times now. Unless it included video footage from the studio this just doesn't sound that appealing to me.

We don't have ALL the demos. And the ones we have weren't leaked with the best quality....Similar to the NJ release.

I'd like to hear Jon's demo of Notorious...

efiste2 01-06-2015 01:36 PM

As I'm sure most of you do, I have all the slippery releases, including the dual disc edition. If this coming release is just a clone of the dual disc edition, I will be disappointed, I play my dual disc Slippery through my Bluray player and 5.1 surround system and whilst it sounds good, it's nowhere near what a specifically mastered 5.1 audio release should be. Again despite having all the New Jersey releases I still bought the new super deluxe version as it promised good things and I think it did just that, and offered more than just online content and a tacky backstage pass. So Im hoping this release offers the same, at the very least a quality 5.1 surround master.

Dave 1986 01-06-2015 05:26 PM

My only complaint about the DualDisc was that Jons vocals were a tad too high in the mix. Even when I did my downmix of the 5.1 extended version. I should probably redo that but before I do the actual downmixing perhaps load the centre channel into Audacity and lower it down.

Also, New Jersey: Deluxe Exition could have included a 5.1 surround sound mix, if one actually exists. Imagine "Lay Your Hands on Me" in true surround sound. :)

efiste2 01-06-2015 07:04 PM

I'm no expert but surely they can remaster anything in true surround sound, in terms of directing certain instruments/sounds to certain channels.....And the thought of LYHOM in a decent 5.1 mix is simply amazing, the intro would be out of this works

bjmjpl 01-06-2015 09:36 PM

bounce was released in sacd i think right? only thru qvc....i rem in my home theater it was

AMAZING....all instruments were tracked seperately - it was wild in 7.1....

Yup - I own it :)

themusicuni 01-31-2015 07:44 PM

Release date has been pushed back by one month to March 17th now. No explanation was given by UMG.

Rdkopper 02-01-2015 03:12 AM

A little off topic but this is a Slippery track that never made the album. I'd love to hear the Jon demo.... I bet it's up there with Edge..... And I'm also certain that a Jon vocal does exist in the vault somewhere....

Dave88 02-24-2015 10:07 AM

Release date changed once again: its April 7th now.

trevrox 03-18-2015 12:54 AM

Has there been any new info on this? Is it basically just going to be the DualDisc tracks from 2005 but better quality?

Hopefully there's some cool bonus features included rather than just stuff we already have repackaged.

Dave88 03-18-2015 03:56 PM

Dave 1986 03-18-2015 08:25 PM

I reckon those last tracks may be music videos. They were all released as singles and in that order as well.

Just out of interest, where did you get this information from?

steel_horse75 03-19-2015 02:20 PM
