Might be one of those places/shows where you're not allowed to play live music... Otherwise I don't know. That's the best lip sync I've ever seen Jon do though.

A lot of TV appearances/one off song performance places are not set-up for bands to play live; they have such a fast turnaround of acts that there's no time for soundchecking etc...so it's quite likely they are lip-syncing in this case yes.

I remember that show - and other artists did seem to actually perform live.

What is this? YT won't let me watch the video, saying it's not accessable in my country??? Weird.

Sometimes they have to lipsync on TV shows, though I know they always prefer performing live. They lip synced the premiere of "It's My Life", which was in a german TV show called "Wetten Dass", march 2000 I think, some years later in the same show they performed "Misunderstood", and I think the vocals were live at least, while when JBJ was there they played "Janie Don't Take Your Love To Town" completely live as far as I remember.

Sometimes they play live on TV shows but sometimes not

There are many reasons why they don't play live at thats shows. I think that if they don't have theirs orginial instruments they won't play live.
For example they were in our country for only some hours and they didn't have all their stuff (guitars, drumms ecc) and they didn't have time for testing microphones, guitars, drumms which TV could offer them and they played with playback.

It's funny because Jon sang Livin On A Prayer with original vocals from the song after 15 years later

Watch that -> For me it's VERY Funny and a little bit stupid of course

Lie To Me - Playback - San Remo 95

The Prayer video is embarassing. Richie is hillarious during the solo.

The Poland vid is hilarious
I remember that in 2000 they did a TOTP 2 special which was lipsynced apart from the acoustic performance of Prayer. Even to my 10-year-old self kit was funny

I think the album version is just over-dubbed in that video. You can see Jon pull his face away from the mic before he stops singing and stuff like that. Judging by the quality of the sound... my guess is over-dubbed.
