Default March 8: Night of Too Many Stars

Night of Too Many Stars was recorded tonight and will air March 8. Jon was there. Pictures of him singing are popping up on social media.

He really doesn't rest does he? As long as he's enjoying it I guess it can only be a good thing.

Autism is practically an epidemic these days so if a bunch of celebrities getting together can actually do something to help further the research into finding the cause or a cure, I'm all for it. It was first diagnosed in the 40's. The first case was a boy from Forest, MS, and it was considered "rare" then. By the time I got into Special Education in 2000, it was about 1 in every 200 kids. Now it's 1 in 66 or so (and more frequent than that in boys). So this can't be just a case of "We understand it better, so we diagnose it more" although that certainly contributes to some of the rise in numbers, but not that great of a rise in numbers. Something is CAUSING it.

I recognize Al Roker, but who are the other two in the pro pix with Jon?

So.... is Dave working with Jon on the new album? Hmmmm...

Dave and John (ugh)?

One is Gilbert Gottfried, some annoying comedian from the 80's.

The other two are Gilbert Gottfried and Will Forte. Will was on Saturday Night Live for a number of years and had a recurring character, a member of opposite Bon Jovi cover band Jon Bovi. is the best version I can find.

I can remember the Special Education days when autism was dismissed as either a form of "mental retardation" or psychosomatic (along with menstrual cramps). And guess where the United States autism rate is highest? Wait for it...
New Jersey’s numbers are even more startling: one in 45 children, with a boys’ rate of 1 in 28. “It’s quite likely there is one boy with autism in every classroom,” says the director of the New Jersey Autism Study...The girls’ rate in New Jersey is one in 133...

IQ varies widely with Autism. I tested a girl this week who's probably autistic, but her IQ was 105 which is solidly in the Average range. Her reading scores were in the 110's (High Average). But among her autistic leaning characteristics is that she freaks out about the color green. She can't stand for anything green to be near her or any green food to be on her plate. Guess what her school colors are? Green and white.

But some of the children that would have been labeled Intellectually Disabled five years ago are being labeled Autistic now. (BTW... you can't say "mentally retarded" anymore. It's akin to saying the N word now. A few years ago it was an official and perfectly legal ruling.)
