He created his own record company before joining BJ but at 28 yo it was "NJ Underground Music Company" with Jon, a publishing company:

We were label presidents on our own label on Atlantic Records and produced Skid Row out of that,

but I think that the ABC reporter got it wrong when (s)he wrote [at age 28,]: Richie was most likely referring to his pre-BJ years or else he wouldn't have added, "and then I had another label." because he had no other after NJUMC. He probably meant first his own record company then "another label": NJUMC.

The "trials and tribulations of a rock band show" is already being done and being done well on another network. It just would have been nice for Richie if his show had come first.
You're thinking of Denis Leary. His show is on the FX network.

You are absolutely correct! Leary, not Miller!

Thank you Old Joysey for the information. I wasn't trying to be a smart ass, I genuinely did not know.

No problem, I only posted to make things clearer for everybody.

NB: Richie talked about the different bands he played with before joining BJ at 23 in the 2012 Howard Stern show (YT). He didn't say he was the lead singer in all of them BTW.

"According to ABC Radio, HBO did not know anything about the show when they questioned the network about it." is the funniest quote, makes you wonder.

Side quote; I read an interview with Dennis Leary talking about his new show and:

Johnny and his guitar player, Flash [John Corbett], are like an old married couple.

"They're like the Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Nineties CBGB's bands. John's character has a little bit of Richie Sambora in him as well — when it's time for a solo, he's the star of the show, y'know? I like the dysfunctional-family dynamic of a band, and those guys are the ****ed-up, bickering parents that keep everyone together. It's the Mick and Keith thing."
