Default Download 2015?

Hey guys,

The promoters of Download Festival have started a poll on the official forum asking which bands fans would like to see headline next year's festival. I was mighty suprised to see Bon Jovi in a list of 15 or so artists.

I was more suprised to see at this present time they are ranked fifth, behind only The Foo Fighters, ACDC and a couple others!

Not sure if I'm reading too much in to it, however, surely the promoters wouldn't ask just out of curiosity to then sign a different set of headliners..

..thoughts?

James

It will come down to lots of things... Most importantly... Are the highest ranked 'wanted headliners' actually touring....

its a matter of great interest to me how a band so uncool, with a series of bad albums in the last 5 years, which tanked commercially, with cheap hits from all the critics etc can be such a crowd puller...
its obvious their body of work , all the hits but still...
i still hope they have a great album in them but as years go by i lose faith...
on top of this all, they have overtoured the last 13-14 years and dont yet have the status of old timers/classics like ac dc or springsteen

It worked for Aerosmith......who don't play regular gigs over here and i dare bet most fans at this year's didn't know anything pre Permanent Vacation.
Plus BJ Didn't have really bad attendances considering Sambora didn't appear on the last tour.

I would be very suprised if Motley Crue don't do it next year as part of their Final Tour, and if they do then I can't see BJ doing it too.

I've always thought that there's no reason that they couldn't do it ... considering Def Leppard and Aerosmith have headlined twice, I can't particulary see why Andy Copping or the festivalgoers as a whole would particulary have a problem with it, so my guess is that maybe Jon is hesitant to do it

Download would have been the perfect festival for Bon Jovi around ten years ago. But now? I doubt the crowd would care much for the unlistenable, immobile Jon and his merry tribute act.

Oh god, can you imagine KOS headlining download?! If Phil has any sense of self-preservation he'll take The Drills instead and probably go over pretty well but that crowd would rip Jon and Bobby to shreds...

I'd be very surprised to ever see Bon Jovi play Download. It would be good for them to headline a real rock/metal festival but I can see a lot of Download fans being turned off at the thought of them headlining.

If they did, they would really have to beef up their set list!
