Default Scars On This Guitar

I start this thread to talk about the video, but there is no thread for the song either so I suppose it can be of more general use also.

I find the 4 first videos from the new album to be decent. However Scars video seems really bad. It is too fake. Jon's acting is really bad, and the editing puts together totally different takes where Jon makes totally different faces while saying the same things, the concert footage make a point but seem disconnected with the rest.

Overall the song has a certain moodiness and .. fogginess (!) which is lost in the shiny sharp video.

Yeah, you're right. I watched it yesterday for the first time and thought it was decent enough but thinking about it, it is a bit of a mishmash.

I really like the song but think more effort could have been put into the guitar work. I mean, James Arthur's recent number one had a very prominent guitar lick that really complimented the song.

Also, a solo would be nice. Lie To Me, for example, has a great, simple acoustic solo. That would have been a nice touch.

Still, I do like the song regardless.

I actually really like the video, although every time I watch it I wish that the whole band was in the video for the last chorus.
I don't see a problem with Jon's acting either.

I agree with Jeeper that the song could have benefitted from an acoustic solo, but I totally love the song. Probably my favourite from the album.
